WASHINGTON — Congressional Republicans conceded defeat on Wednesday in their bitter budget fight with President Obama over the new health care law as the House and Senate approved last-minute legislation ending a disruptive 16-day government shutdown and extending federal borrowing power to avert a financial default with potentially worldwide economic repercussions.

With the Treasury Department warning that it could run out of money to pay national obligations within a day, the Senate voted overwhelmingly on Wednesday evening, 81 to 18, to approve a proposal hammered out by the chamber’s Republican and Democratic leaders after the House on Tuesday was unable to move forward with any resolution. The House followed suit a few hours later, voting 285 to 144 to approve the Senate plan, which would fund the government through Jan. 15 and raise the debt limit through Feb. 7.

Of course the Dems got everything, the result was foreordained. 0bama would’ve let the country default and go in a free-fall before he would’ve agreed to do anything to stop 0bamacare; and there never was a possibility of a veto over-ride. This whole thing was ill-advised and accrued to the benefit of 0bama and the dems.

Its going to take a long time, many years in fact for people to wake up and see that Socialism is not the answer..that is how Socialism dies at the end..it lasts for a while, but once people suffer with THEIR money being taken away from them, then they wake up..it wont be easy, because we dont want to live under a Socialist regime, but people voted for Obama, not once but twice, they wanted Obamacare, we didnt..now we slowly slowly see them start crying about their premiums going up, doubling, tripling..let them suffer, they wanted Obamacare, they can go and choke on it..Socialism is a disease, like a cancerous tumor, the only way to destroy it is to kill it

Interesting, Lynn Jenkins (R) Kansas voted YES, with the "leadership!'

I knew and said as much (check my past messages) when I found out Boehner selected her as one of the House GOP to get in on the "negotiation!"

She was a lib/mod in KS before running for the House and obviously she still is.

She definitely WILL be primaries and I'm betting will lose her job in DC, though, she'll probably get another on there to stay on, as so many of them do, as they just can't bear going back home to meatloaf and Friday night steak on the grill.

Of course for Lynn, her first "item of business" upon getting elected and moving to DC, was to divorce her husband and left the kiddies at home with him!

Not exactly a clean CR, is it Mitch? McConnell got his pork put in for his vote.

It also includes an increase in authorization for spending on construction on the lower Ohio River in Illinois and Kentucky. The bill increases it to $2.918 billion.

The Senate Conservatives Fund quickly called that language the “Kentucky Kickback,” and said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) secured that as the price of his support for the bill. Taxpayers for Common Sense says the bill would increase total authorized spending by $1.2 billion.

We spent 24 billion on a shutdown so we can get income verification. You think that’s a victory? Obama and Reid were never serious about sequester rollbacks

Well, no. The shutdown was an attempt to get the O-care mandate extended. I didn't say it was a victory for us. What I said was it was no victory for them either. The bill was basically neutral.

“We don’t want to trade in a RINO for a dem.”

Very true unless you want all the other states to look like California. It will be decades before we ever dig ourselves out of this Democrat mess. The Democrats are trying to tax their way out of the mess they created. Those scumbags have DESTROYED this state. I’m out in three years.

Gasoline will be $5.00/gal by Christmas.

You're probably right, but oddly, no one (but us) will complain about it. If the media doesn't tell the sheeple to be outraged.... the sheeple won't be outraged.

I don't recognize this place called "America" anymore...
