Compromise with Democrats? That means they get what they want, and we get nothing. There's your compromise.
Republicans working together? Conservatives agree to kick the can down the road and leadership thanks them. That's your party unity, right there.

We are witnessing the deconstruction of the Republican Party. Several of my friends and I have quit the Party and gone Independent. Let what’s left of the Republicans come court us for while and stop taking our votes for granted.

I will vote in GOP primaries for the Tea party candidate against any and all establishment Republicans.
That’s the only reason I’m still registered as GOP.
yes. everyone with sense will eventually get out of the two major parties. it will take time. the GOP will go on in the red states. we’re waiting to coalesce around a third party. we have to as it has been clear for many years that conservatives have no real representation in the GOP. the answers for America cannot come from DC anyway.
that being said. from my point of view outside of it, the last two weeks have been the finest hour i’ve personally witnessed in my lifetime for the republican party. i think much good will eventually come of this, the last stand of the GOPe. i’m hoping that this will hasten the departure of the GOPe old bulls as a first effect.

I fully understand this. House conservatives wanted to see if they could get the Democrats to yield on Obamacare even with the debt limit on the horizon. They also wanted to draw a line in the sand, making clear to the voters where the GOP stood on Obamacare. When people step into the polling booth in Nov 2014, what will they remember - their premium increases (that the GOP tried to avert by striking down Obamacare) or the wrangling over the debt limit?
I don’t think so. I think Tammy Faye is going to retire before the next Speakership vote.
I've been voting since the early 60s and for most of those years, I had been a registered Independent, but joined the pubbie party to vote in the primary {we have closed primaries in PA} against snarlen arlen.
We finally got rid of sphincter but now we have casey, a demonRAT no-show that never goes to work.
An Independent in PA can not vote at all in any primary for either party.
What's a RINO but someone who always goes with his Dem masters (and disappoints those who voted for him)?
It would be a good day for Boehner to resign if he can’t follow the rules set up by his own party.
Actually here in Indiana I can vote in a GOP primary as an independent... but the GOP could protest my vote as not being primary loyal to the party. As an independent I could probably get past that since I’ve historically voted Republican. Were I to try to affect the Dem primaries not so much. Of course that means they’d have to actually protest my vote which is the gamble. Always made sense to just stay in and vote Republican... but now that I’ve reread the rule I might go Independent on principle.
