Revising Stalinist Genocide Up
Accuracy in Academia ^ | October 15, 2013 | Malcolm A. Kline

“In 1934 a high-ranking member of the Communist Party, Sergei Kirov, was assassinated,” Cornell historian Holly Case wrote in The Chronicle Review. “His death, likely orchestrated by Stalin himself, was used to initiate a mass persecution that would result in over a million imprisoned and hundreds of thousands killed.”

“Actually, she’s a bit off on the casualty count,” we observed. ...

“The late Alexander Yakovlev, the lifelong Soviet apparatchik who in the 1980s became the chief reformer and close aide to Mikhail Gorbachev, and who, in the post-Soviet 1990s, was tasked with the grisly assignment of trying to total the victims of Soviet repression, estimated that Stalin alone was responsible for the deaths of 60 to 70 million, a stunning number two to three times higher than estimates in The Black Book of Communism,” Grove City College historian Paul Kengor has noted.

...Case wrote in a letter to us. “Many of Stalin’s victims came before that due to collectivization and dekulakization, which was likely why he initiated the Purge in the first place (to create scapegoats for those atrocities). I would appreciate it if you would acknowledge your mistake and withdraw your post, otherwise I will simply conclude that you are ideologically motivated rather than interested in the truth…not unlike Stalin, in fact. “

... the UN, never a virulently anti-Soviet source, has noted that during the Ukrainian famine (1932-1933), “It was estimated that about 25,000 Ukrainians were dying every day during the Famine. ..." & from the Russian Archives themselves, by way of the Library of Congress: “...During the ensuing Great Terror, which included the notorious show trials of Stalin’s former Bolshevik opponents in 1936-1938 and reached its peak in 1937 and 1938, millions of innocent Soviet citizens were sent off to labor camps or killed in prison.”

Everyone of the Undead Thread, meet “Csivils”.
“csivils” has a problem with comprehension.
When the forum policy on blogpimps was mentioned, instead of taking the hint about it, he has decided to take the past three days to argue it out and lie!
http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3079232/posts?page=24#24 <——LIE
Now, instead of taking the FURTHER hint that griping to me about forum policy is a nonstart, he wants to continue being STUPID.
So let’s make his life VERY interesting for today!
Csivils, if you don’t like forum policy, which is very clearcut and not at all hard to follow, take it up with the one who made it!
DUH!

You have stated you can troll blog-pimps and their defenders, and that anyone who disagrees with your tactics must be a defender. I am still waiting for that link.

The owner of this site named Humblegunner as the "blog pimp police" on FR. No, I don't have the link but someone else may have it.

I can ping the site owner if you like........

2. You do not have a special badge to allow you to argue, troll, call other posters names or be a jerk.

I was unaware that anyone needed permission or authorization to point out bad behavior.

You seem to be pointing out what YOU see as bad behavior.

Where is YOUR stinkin' badge?

You have stated you can troll blog-pimps and their defenders, and that anyone who disagrees with your tactics must be a defender. I am still waiting for that link.

The pimp-busters have acted in a way, like a gauntlet to weed out the spammers from people who want to be part of the community. We attempted to have a Free Republic ‘welcome wagon’ where new members were shown the ropes and welcomed into the community. This backfired. Personal squabbles followed those who wanted to be part of the welcome wagon and ‘pimps’ simply ignored them. The Pimp Busters seemed to pop up shortly after. Consider them a trial by fire. Is your skin thick enough to stand the debate here?...Are the Pimp Busters mods or have any official power? No. They are members like any other.

Note, this is from one if the same links Darksheare gave you earlier, one you claimed to have read.

Now in all honesty, no one is claiming they can "troll" blog pimps, but as that statement by the Admin Moderator shows, the self anointed blog police are tolerated here as they serve a function. And a clear function, clear that is to anyone without a pimping agenda.

Do I police the pimps? No. But I can see the "front line defense" they (the police) provide. Given today's blog heavy world.

This behavior shouldn't concern anyone. Simply ignore the smarminess if you don't like the police. I must admit though I find that picture of a kid dressed up as a pimp funny though.

Your suggestion is a good one certainly. Maybe the self appointed police will start doing it. If done en masse, I can see how it would discourage blog pimping here certainly.

My main point to posting to you though is to urge you to not fight against the "police"; they've become a force of nature around here, for good (or bad, depending on how one places one's discussion fora priorities I guess). But they aren't going anywhere, that's the point, and they do serve a function.

FR is a very kind hearted place once the "regs" get to know you. Until then, it's as the Admin said its trial by fire. (I leaned that lesson through my own such trial believe me haha ...maybe this is yours...)

csivils initially tried to claim that there was no policy about excerpting one’s blog.
That’s earlier in this thread.
Upon being shown he was wrong, he moved his goal posts and then spent the rest of the time contorting.

From post 24:

The name calling, confrontational enforcement and general jerk behavior by the blog-police is not endorsed anywhere in those links.

Where’s the link?

You initially claimed there was no policy on excerpting.
I gave you the link.
You said the link doesn’t say what I stated it said.
Now, what was it I said?
Oh yeah:

Perhaps you need to read official policy yourself.
It exists for a reason.
Don’t like the reason, take it up with the site owner instead of complaining to us!
It is HIGHLY annoying to go to a site and be assaulted with popups [Examiner blog] virii [Examiner blog] and have people use FR for a “Pay for site clicks” scheme.

Play some more games csivils.
You’re lying some more.

Thank your reading my post rather than a knee jerk response to what you thought I was going to write.

This may surprise you, but I strongly empathize with the fighting against partial postings/blog-pimping, and if I get to a thread before the more fire brand style blog-police, I’ll try to handle the post in the way I suggest.

It is my opinion that the blog-police have moved way beyond simply attacking the blogger into attacking other members on FR. Just my opinion, nothing special... but I’m free to express that opinion just like the blog-police are free to express theirs.

The situation can be handled in a way that is less hostile to other FR members, less disruptive to the on-topic discussion on FR and less likely to escalate.

From the same post you quote: “While not everyone agrees with what they do, we actually saw some value in keeping the leash a little longer for them.”

I’m not disagreeing with the need for blog-police, I’m simply stating my they are off the leash. I’m not new to FR, I’ve been posting for a very long time. The blog-police have moved beyond simply causing a small skirmish at the start of a thread into dominating the thread.

It has been determined that giving the pimps dollar bills and kisses
has very little effect regarding the curbing of their behavior.

How’s this: The blogger posts his stuff in full like he’s supposed to as per policy by the site owner?
No impediment to posting in full.
Unless one checks the “excerpt” function box.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/2548666/posts?page=38#38
How many ways can that be said?

I’m not new to FR, I’ve been posting for a very long time.

You post every few months. Your history is easy to check. You've also tangled with humblegunner before.

The blog pimp policy is what it is. Blog pimps use FR's resources to benefit themselves with hits. FR is not a free advertising site for blogs.

Again, do you need to hear it from the site owner?

I agree with what you post in 96. That is the ideal, that is what we would all like to see happen.

Our disagreement is with how harsh to turn up the fire once that did not happen, and who that fire should be directed against.

The blog-police have moved beyond simply causing a small skirmish at the start of a thread into dominating the thread.

Here I would disagree and would like to reemphasize the main point the admin was making 2 years ago: the blog police's antics are really only a disruption to true blog pimps and their allies.

I honestly don't understand how such posts could be offensive or disruptive to anyone who isn't trying to pimp a blog.

Don't you think the picture of the blog pimp posted upthread is funny? Haha

In all seriousness, it's not something to be concerned about. Take a deep breath and think about it for a second: do blog police really impede genuine people who really want to help FR in particular or the conservative cause in general? Or do they only tick off the pimps?

It's the latter of course. And any blogger who simply posts in the Blogger forum (until given permission to do otherwise) and simply posts the entire content of their blog post here is not nor should be tortured as a blog pimp.

One thing I've never seen from any blog cop is torturing someone who plays by those simple rules. If/when I do, I'll be one of the first to be on their case, trust me. Because we can all see the need to ween ourselves off the MSM teat.
