Philippine quake: All is now OK on the island of Cebu. The power just came back on. It was shake, rattle, and roll for about 30 seconds, as my porter, delivering beer, and I made a dash for the door. Fallen book case was only damage. Thanks to FReepers who mailed their concerns.

Just felt a very slight aftershock ... Yes, the beer made it fine. I am drinking one now.
Soon I will pedal back to wife and child, safe on high ground.
They were not here, but at her parents when quake hit. They evacuated to high ground.

What time of the year is best to go in terms of airline ticket prices?
Not really sure. Just worked out to go mid Nov., for schedule. Flying to Cebu from Hong Kong or Manila is cheap. I think 30.00 US from Manila. Flights are every hour.

I do not know of any special time to fly. All of my flights were from Vienna, Austria on Qatar Air. into Cebu city.
AVOID Manila any way you can. It is listed as the worst airport in the world.
Look for KAL or Cathay Pacific flights that land in Cebu.
Will be in HK than Manila so I’ll be flying one of the Manila airlines to Cebu. Flying Cathay from states to HK and Manila. CP is my favorite Asian AL. Never flew Qatar Air but understand it’s one of the best.
Flew to Baraki once on Spirit Air. That was an interesting experience.

Sorry about your having to go to Manilla. Anyway, you will probably use Cebu-Pacific for trip to Cebu.
I used them on a flight to Hong Kong.
Yes, Qatar is in the top five star airlines of the world.
It is sad that no American carrier has more then three stars.
