Yes, we are fine. Power is on, but no running water.
Many are worried, and still up on the beach road, including my wife and child....Oh, they just came in, , but wife wants to sleep elsewhere.

I do not expect any more activity, but no one knows.
We are now at one of the resorts, just for a change of atmospher.

We are now at one of the resorts, just for a change of atmospher.
I went into town a while ago and there were lots of people milling around near the Superdome. Of course, it’s a holiday so most did not work. There was only one topic of conversation among everybody that I talked with, and they all talk about sleeping outside tonight.
I’m back in my home on the second floor. I have a truss roof overhead and a pretty solid bed underneath me. Most of the activity seems to be over your way, but I still have shaken pretty good.
I spent plenty of time on the ocean sailing on big ships and small. when you are out there moving to and fro, your body adjusts. When you come back onto the land, your body still fills the movement, but now it’s just in your mind. I’m sitting here in my chair comfortable as can be, but it seems to be moving all the time. I know it’s a figment of my imagination, but it doesn’t make it any easier.
Enjoy the resort. I’m having a rum and coke sitting here at my computer surfing the Internet and talking with friends.
Please pray for the dead and the injured!
Glad you’re O.K. My son has an office in Cebu City but he lives in the US; I’ll get a report from him a little later.
Prayers up for our friends in the Philippines!
My, my, my. I guess you haven't sat through 7.2 earthquakes before. Do so once or twice and see how "positive" you are about the earth underneath shaking and rolling. You will "learn a little" with your FIRST encounter with a 30-second 3.0 earthquake or a 10 second 7.0 earthquake and PROBABLY won't be so condescending. :o) MAYBE.
Your "haste" will undoubtedly be moving to a state with no earthquakes! Lol.
You can see how well or poorly buildings are constructed when earthquakes happen.
In Mexico City CATASTROPHE happens because their building codes are non-existent. I have family there and thus know all about the damage that happens.
In California, buildings will STAND because of all the reinforcement, steel beams and A-1 building codes adhered to.
It's not rocket science.
I didn't know that about Washington state.
It's typical that the local government is doing something. That's America for you. I lived in Mexico City for a couple of years when I was young and there you see the EXACT opposite. But that is typical for there.
Side note: Mexico may be, for us at least, a real pit hole but for Central and South America Mexico is called the "Giant of the north." Lol.
Those folks know how much Mexico benefits from being on the border with us. Tens of thousands of jobs, mostly dull assembly line jobs, are there for Mexicans at their USA-Mexico border. Mostly women are hired by Mexico because they will work longer hours for less money seven days a week.

As a resident here, and a former NC Gen Bldg Contractor, I can tell you that building things to code is great, but these people are poor. Many live in Bamboo houses, and those that are built with concrete and hollow blocks are glad to have a roof over there head.
Rather than criticize, pray! Rather than complain, send money to help those in need.

We will be saying special prayers for all of you at 1 PM today.((((Hugs)))))
You must have been in a few big quakes.
I understand your point and I think I was the one who was “hasty”. Sorry.
Could you add me to your ping list WVKayaker? I’ve been praying for you and the peoples of the Philippines (the only country my friend in [mighty] Malta said she’d ever consider moving to).
“Government Furlough” = obama hissy fit
All of you in harms way stay safe...you are in my thoughts!
God watch over you and the islands!
