Surprise: Reid Flatly Rejects Moderate GOP Offer, Dems Plot to "Break" Republicans

**SNIP**

When the president himself wanted to initiate discussions prior to shutdown, Harry Reid vetoed it, effectively overruling Obama. The Post report also notes that Nancy Pelosi has permitted dozens of House Democrats to vote with the GOP on a litany of common-sense piecemeal bills to restore funding to popular and essential elements of the federal government. She ran the political calculus and allowed certain members to break with the party in order to avoid being targeted with potent attack ads next year. She did so knowing that these fixes would be dead on arrival in the Senate. In short, the consistent theme of these machinations is ruthless partisanship. Democrats want the American people to believe that they're the responsible adults in the room, yet behind the scenes, they've undermined every opportunity for consensus.

I think Republicans need to smart mouth the liberal media right to their faces—embarass them. Nobody likes to be embarassed and the liberal media sure take fiendish delight in putting Republicans on the spot. Republicans should put them on the spot and they will start to cave.

after all, the best way to get a really bad law repealed is to let it go into effect fully.

Other than prohibition, could you give an example?

This article is a pre-emptive strike by the WP to limit the political damage for the Dems on the upcoming deal.

At least two well-regarded polls in the past week indicate that Republicans are bearing the brunt of the public backlash over the government shutdown

What he doesn't tell us about the polls is that the Dems are blamed nearly as much as the GOP which is unprecedented for these deals. Usually people blame the GOP far, far more than the Dems. The MSM propaganda isn't working so well this time in protecting the left.

Pelosi, whose skills at counting and marshaling votes are widely regarded as unparalleled in the modern era

Oh, puleeze. This is another giveaway that the Post is doing all they can to pump the Dems in this article. Transparent brown-nosing not based on anything like reality.

So, let me see if I get this straight: Reid and McConnell get together at Reid's behest. Reid has a strategy to reopen the government until Feb 15. McConnell goes along with Reid's idea.

Then Reid rejects his own deal, and blames the Republicans.

And the Propaganda Wing of the White House (formerly known as the American News Media) calls Republicans names and says they are uncompromising.

Is that about right?

After listening to the “news” this morning, I thought the Kenyan sent his boy, Rimshot Joe, in to negotiate one of his “BIG ****ing deal” specialties with the GOOBs.

Yes, it is. And there are losers. I am one of them. Tomorrow I will burn the last of my vacation. Over $2,000 worth of leave....poof, gone.

After that, I start losing pay directly.

And since I am a contractor, I won’t get re-imbursed.

The media get 10 cents in advertising revenue for every dollar the Democrats give “the needy” for consumer spending, for every dollar the Democrats take from investors and give to consumers.

They’ll never cut their advertising revenue just to avoid being embarassed and their prime advertising demographics- that they sell to their advertisers- wouldn’t see them as being embarassed anyway.

They’ll always shill for the Dems until redistribution destroys the economy. But that won’t happen ‘this’ quarter.

The timidity of the GOP is just stunning. The minute the Dems double crossed the GOP leadership they should have put obamacare back on the table. Starting with the Congressional exemption.

Would somebody PLEASE give the GOP a quick course in public relations?

Even a first-year PR student knows you need to GET YOUR MESSAGE OUT for anything good to happen. And when you’re dealing with low-information voters who get all their news from MSM sources, you’ve really got to crank up the volume to get through the noise!

The Republican message can’t be heard. Why not?

Susan Collins, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Pete King, etc ARE snakes, scorpions and Collaborators. But, you are right, they may wake up and realize it’s time to be tough with THEIR FRIENDS.

I am rooting for Obana and the Dems... The destruction of the republican party is necessary to enable the rise of the American freedom party.

The Mighty Democrat Senator “No Debate” Reid has spoken though his use of raw Park Police Power by an incompetent, spendaholic, Democrat Administration: Release the floodgates of continuous increased Federal Spending or we will lower the BARRYCADE IRON CURTAIN until you cave in.

In this way Reid and Obama have defined for America what continued control of the US Senate and the Administration will be like in the future.

Each section of the BARRYCADE IRON CURTAIN is a visual testament to the abject failure of the Obama-Reid Adminstration and Senate.

There should be no doubt, except for the true believers in the Liberal “Mainstream” Media, that Democrats do not have the ability to operate, oversee, or manage a Government “- - - of the people, for the people, and by the people.”

Senator Reid has failed to produce a Federal Budget for five disgraceful years in a row. He thus in the most incompetent Majority Leader of the US Senate, ever.

The simple fact that Senate Democrats have chosen to keep Senator Reid as their Majority Leader can only be interpreted that the majority of US Senate Democrats do not have the ability to operate, oversee, or manage the US Federal Government.

I’m on Leave Without Pay as of today. I’m gearing up for a job search starting Oct 17, and I am so well-regarded, I should have several offers by Oct 27. Unless my contracting company does something good for me, I’m outta here.

I agree...let it go into effect. The Republicans can show they tried everything to get it stopped, and then when the people feel the pain from the prices and deductibles, they can say, hey, we tried but everyone demonized us. Even the O voters will feel some pain in this, when all they’ve had to do in the past was go to the ER. I think this will be the best thing that can happen, is let it go into effect...there’s going to be some pi$$ed off people...

The absurd thing is the Republicans refuse to expose what is going on. They just keep groveling and coming back with counter-offers instead of using this opportunity to educate the people

The GOP ought to make a formal address to the nation regarding the all-pervasive propagandizing for the Democrats that we see from the national media. This is a major issue that took on a whole new dimension of election-altering menace in 2008 with the anti-Palin and pro-Obama hysterics. We are like a banana republic in so many ways now.
