after all, the best way to get a really bad law repealed is to let it go into effect fully.

Other than prohibition, could you give an example?

Well, there is a lot of talk about changing the mandatory minimum sentencing that came about due to the WOD, so at least there is headway being made on that stupid law - some more reasonable discussion is being had about that.

Can I point to something other than prohibition directly? Not off the top of my head, but I am sure there are some good examples - perhaps the stamp act...

I’ll see what I can muster, but the person who first said what I echoed originally about getting a bad law repealed by fully implementing it was pretty erudite to begin with.
