Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd confirms they were called in to help the employees at Walmart because there were so many people clearing off the shelves. He says Walmart was so packed, It was worse than any black Friday that hes ever seen.
Lynd explained the cards werent showing limits and they called corporate Walmart, whose spokesman said to let the people use the cards anyway. From 7 to 9 p.m., people were loading up their carts, but when the cards began showing limits again around 9, one woman was detained because she rang up a bill of $700.00 and only had .49 on her card. She was held by police until corporate Walmart said they wouldnt press charges if she left the food.

I think Wal-Mart is probably going to have to eat it. Maybe they won’t do it again next time.
In this particular case they had just shot it. ;-)
I realized I should have mentioned that they had just shot the deer.
But you did give me a great idea!
Called “looting” in almost every other context.
A near riot at the Philadelphia Wal-Mart over a glitch with
the federal governments electronic food stamp cards forced
the store to close briefly on Saturday night after customers
became unruly, the authorities said.
Anyone still left in Louisiana, should get out as fast as possible.
Winn Dixie, I needed a few cans (5 big dogs!) to tide us over until my husband gets over to FL where a friend with whom my husband does business has some kind of grocery store where we get brand-name dog food cheap. Mine get dry mixed with canned, and with 5 large dogs, I need the really big bags and cases of cans.
Hubby buys the 50lb bags of ‘big dog’ food at the feed store. We are rural though. We also buy the chickens food there. And the cats.
I’ll have to ask him specifics on how much we save. IIRC it’s on the order of 30%-40% over grocery store prices.
If you have a local co-op you might ask there. Or ask around for a ‘feed store’.
Fortunately we only have the one big dog. But she’s an outside dog (with lots of protection from weather) and winter is coming. I save my freezer burned meat to cook in the winter and add to her dry food. She also gets all the au jus from any roasts or crockpot meats in the wintertime too.
He says Walmart was so packed, It was worse than any black Friday that hes ever seen.
Obviously, that’s a racist statement and the African American community should be demanding he be fired. [/sarc]
They didn’t think they were getting ‘free food’ from Walmart (in the sense that Walmart magically turned into a poverty food bank) - they thought they were able to steal without getting caught... That’s an important difference.
Willing to bet a dollar that Walmart receives payment in full from the US Government.
*chuckle*.
You’ll be ‘country’ before you know it!
“......but if you haven’t prepared for the possibility of food shortage, better do so ASAP.”
That can’t be said often enough!!!!
My wife and I could survive for 6 months without leaving our home. I still need to get a hand pump for our water well or fresh water could become an issue during an extended power outage.
Well done....... and it’s cute.
Someone should ask Don Lemon from CNN if he’s embarrassed for his race!!!
Unlimited amount or not, Walmart will charge the taxpayers (Washington) for every charge made. We get screwed regardless.
No, not finished. That’s when things are going to start to get REAL INTERESTING...
You are “on the hook”.
