Hubby buys the 50lb bags of ‘big dog’ food at the feed store. We are rural though. We also buy the chickens food there. And the cats.

I’ll have to ask him specifics on how much we save. IIRC it’s on the order of 30%-40% over grocery store prices.

If you have a local co-op you might ask there. Or ask around for a ‘feed store’.

Fortunately we only have the one big dog. But she’s an outside dog (with lots of protection from weather) and winter is coming. I save my freezer burned meat to cook in the winter and add to her dry food. She also gets all the au jus from any roasts or crockpot meats in the wintertime too.

Aww :) I spoil mine like that too. They're all older and “rescue” dogs, so since they are mostly couch potatoes, they live inside, with a doggie door to a big fenced-in back yard. We have a feed store around here, that's a good idea and I'll check into it, thanks :)

OK. I just couldn't help this, but I have to ask. Are the cats to supplement the dog food? /ducking and running
