These people are just dumb. They announce that the EBT cards *ARE* working, and the morons leave their carts where they are?
They had little or no funds in their EBT accounts.
They were only able to use their cards because the EBT system was down and the cards artificially had no limits, and Wal-Mart foolishly decided to be nice.
They were trying to check out before the system came back on line, so they could get the stuff for “free”.
Yes. They weren’t shopping. They were looting.

By "working," it means the cards were showing the actual credit remaining, and if the perps knew that the balance on their card was $2.95, and they were pushing $700 worth of stuff...
In other words, most of the people who were there were criminals, hoping to get away with their loot before the computers started working again.
