House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan lashed out at Senate Republicans for interfering with the House GOPs talks with the White House to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling, suggesting his colleagues on the other side of the Capitol were betraying Speaker John Boehner.
Theyre trying to cut the House out, and trying to jam us with the Senate. Were not going to roll over and take that, Ryan told reporters. When asked if he felt double crossed, Ryan said you look at the facts and draw your own conclusions.
Senate Republicans, led by Senator Susan Collins of Maine, are negotiating with Democrats on a package to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling into next year with relatively modest concessions for the GOP.
Ryan said House Republicans only learned the details about the plan this morning, and added that he strenuosly objects to it. When asked which parts of the plan he objected to, Ryan said there are too many to go into.
One of the most significant differences between a House framework sent to the White House late Thursday and Collins plan is the length of time it would extend the debt ceiling. Boehner has put forward a six-week extension, while Collins plan has been reported to extend almost until February 2014.
At a closed-door meeting with House Republicans minutes earlier, Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor offered a similar message to their colleagues.
We need Senate Republicans to stand up and stand firm, Cantor said, according to a person in the room.
Boehner said that in talks between the two sides, Obama had agreed to nothing and said the House would be holding its position for now.

you stated: “More like he lashed out at Senate Republicans for interfering with his and Boehnor and Cantors attempts to cave in to the Whitehouse.”
The article is stating: “Senate Republicans, led by Senator Susan Collins of Maine, are negotiating with Democrats on a package to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling into next year with relatively modest concessions for the GOP. “
it appears to me that Ryan is upset because Senate Republicans are offering the Democrats a longer debt ceiling extension [c. 4 months] period before budget talks would recommence than what the House/Ryan was proposing: a 6 week extension.
would someone explain why the carping at Ryan??
should Ryan be pleased that the Senate GOP/Collins wants to give this Administration even more time to extend the debt ceiling than what the House/Ryan was proposing?
what am i missing?
I think you partly answered your own question.
Why would Ryan express surprise that he is getting jammed by senate Marxists, who have no respect for his constant compromises with their point of view? That’s one complaint against him, right there.
The big complaint is he dares to show up for a gun fight, not with a knife, but with a spread sheet, and leaves the declaration of war in the drawer.
What war, you say?
OBAMACARE!
Not one word. Ryan says not one word! Not even a mention, and these guys want one sixth of the economy under government control.
Wake up. Stop ‘wondr’-ing.
“what am i missing?”
Ryan’s plan allows increased Medicare costs for better off seniors to offset some of the sequester cuts. How did we get from defunding Obamacare to backing off on sequester cuts? He’s nuts.
It’s good that Ryan is getting angry at the right people. Maybe he’ll add the ObamaCare delay back into his proposal. Those Senators are the ones who want to fund ObamaCare now.
Ryan lost me when he started promoting Amnesty for Illegals.
Has Paul Ryan ever flashed anger at a Democrat?
Her maiden name is Boren, niece of the popular OK
Dem David Boren.
CRUSH THE BARRYCADES!!!! NEVER GIVE IN........ODUMBI must stop spending more than he has! Lets not end up like Gingrich giving in to Clinton. This time the PEOPLE WIN.
Yeah, makes you wonder for whom you’re supposed to root.
