Republican congressman goes ballistic on Ted Cruz - "We have to cut this guy off now"

Appearing on MSNBC on Friday, Congressman Peter King continued his epic verbal assault on Ted Cruz — and, to a lesser extent, Rand Paul — by describing the Texas Senator as a “RINO” (Republican in name only) and a “fraud.”

Speaking with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, King called the ongoing government shutdown “the strategy of Ted Cruz” and wondered aloud “why more Republicans around the country didn’t join me in denouncing Ted Cruz” before the shutdown began. “We cannot allow our party to be taken over by the likes of Ted Cruz and Rand Paul,” King continued, describing Cruz and Paul as “isolationists” and “RINOs” who “don’t represent traditional Republican principles.”

Seven years ago my tagline was “ I fear that we are the RINOs. The real Republican party is the big government Dem-lite party.” King is just trying to prove it. If honorable people like Cruz can’t take the party from King, McCain and Graham, then it needs to be swept away like the Whigs for failing to confront the issue of slavery.

What does Peter King get out of this? What constituency of his appreciates this? He’s doing this for a calculated reason. Favorable press? Moderate district?

Peter King = McCain = Graham.

Each may at one time been a patriot.

Each one made some deal where their wife (not in Graham’s case) likely liked the goodies or gifts and didn’t question where they came from.

Each saw themselves in the mirror and the adoring crowd/camera/info babe asking questions to them gave them a new feeling of inside-the-beltway importance.

Thus, they sold out, lost their way and traded serving the people for serving themselves.

Cruz/Lee and a few others threaten exposing them, not for doing things for the country, but simply by doing what is right. It is disgusting and vile and must have a high lumen spotlight kept on these dirtbags that have lost their way back to the people and red, white, and blue they swore to defend and uphold.

They are the enemy.

“Looks like the NSA spy program has netted another Republican.”

Exactly.

One can only wonder what King’s NSA/FBI/IRS files look like and contain.

Creeps like King often have a history of unconventional sexual appetites and of course ways to make money outside of the normal ways.

wondered aloud “why more Republicans around the country didn’t join me in denouncing Ted Cruz”

Hmmm, let's see. Where to begin?

Going third party is a risk that conventional wisdom says is suicidal, and I would much rather see conservatives overcome the GOPe and make "Republican" the party of limited government. But honestly, how much of a realistic chance is there for conservatives to reclaim the GOP in the next year or two with guys like King, McCain, and Romney so thick in the ranks and defining "Republican principle"? Supporting their Republican party is an exercise in futility and is becoming more and more lethal, as we see today.

We may not win with a third party, but we sure as heck will weaken both Republican and Democrat liberals by splitting the vote enough to put them into office with pluralities, meaning they have ZERO majority support -- the majority in fact OPPOSE them, and a third party will help make freedom-loving Americans' votes COUNT in expressing that rejection. When a politician goes into office with a majority of Americans on record as having voted "against" him by opting for a third party, that politician will be in a WEAK position. Perot proved it twice: REMEMBER that when Clinton was elected on a 43% plurality (57 percent rejected him) he was so weak that he was slammed with the Republican Revolution, and when he was elected on a 49% plurality the second time, he was impeached.

CLEARLY, with guys like King, McCain, Romney, et al still considered "respectable" Republicans even within the party structure, the party is an increasingly dangerous liability. A third party may well be the ONLY way out of this mess, whether we like it or not. I wish it wasn't so, but what I wish is entirely beside the point.

“We cannot allow our party to be taken over by the likes of Ted Cruz and Rand Paul,” King continued

This is a very good sign.

I wish Reagan’s spiritwould slap these guys around for several minutes on live TV. It would be like the scene in “Ghost” when Sam starts slapping Willie and Carl around toward the end of the film. Put the fear of God into these GOP-E jerks.

We’ve tried the ‘taking back our party’ route, in the most recent 2 elections. Upon the advice of so many SAGEs that third party is dead sentence etc etc. For all intents and purposes, GOP is dead. Some may not realize it yet.

I fear you are correct. What in HELL are we going to do if we continue this "taking back the party" game and (as is most likely) end up with another RINO nominee in 2016? We had BETTER start considering that probability now. Please see my post #67 above.

I applaud MSNBC for inviting Rep. King on to the show knowing full well he might have come on to voice full support for Sen. Cruz.

HA! Right.

What a tool. I know pigs don't know pigs stink but you'd think a human being would know when he's being played.

Yep. Whether we like it or not. If the GOP is dead, we must accept it and deal with it.

Mark Levin did NOT advocate for a 3rd Party.
Not at all.

Where did I say he did?????????

YOU, on the other hand, are advocating Einstein's definition of insanity, while going on about "math" when, ironically, it appears that you have fallen for the mathematical fallacy of voting "against."

There is a complete difference in Presidential races

Senate Races

House Races

There is no reason to use the same strategy in all areas.

I suggest we try to take the Party in 2014, and put 2016 on the back burner.

I wish the Republican party would get its act together and for conservatives to "take the party" in 2014. I also wish I had a pony.

What I wish is beside the point. The REALITY is that Senate, House, and Presidential races -- if "Republican" remains the sideways crap shoot that it has been for the past decade, where "Republican" stands for "maybe he will or maybe he won't side with the Democrat," then by 2014 and 2016, leftism and big government liberalism will continue to dominate the sum total BECAUSE of Republicans like you who oppose liberalism but who vote FOR it in the vain belief that they're voting "against" the Democrat.

More and more Republicans are waking up to that sad, hard truth. A third party is becoming the better option, when voting "Republican" means voting FOR leftism and liberalism while pretending that it's voting "against" the same.

Maybe King & Obama can share the same rubber room in the very near future. They are both showing signs of detachment from reality.

OK
Go run your Ross Perot and feel good about electing another Bill Clinton.
You will not get anyone of any stature.
How did “Eternal Vigilance” do last year, btw?

Sheesh. I like King on the immigration issue, but he sucks attacking Cruz. A house divided will not stand. Hopefully we can purge the RINOs out, probably not, but hopefully.

King strikes me as low-level political functionary with Irish racketeering connections.
