In addition to ending the shutdown and increasing the debt limit, under the proposal Congress and the White House would explore ways to ease across-the-board federal budget cuts that began taking effect a year ago, and replace at least part of them with benefit-program curbs that have been included in recent presidential budgets. Officials who described the approach did so on condition of anonymity, saying they were not authorized to discuss private conversations.
With the weekend approaching, and the deadline for raising the debt limit five days away, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said it was time to "put this hysterical talk of default behind us and instead start talking about finding solutions to the problems."
McConnell and Senate Republicans met with Obama at the White House, a session that lasted about 90 minutes. Returning to the Capitol, GOP lawmakers huddled with McConnell, who told reporters, "Now we're back here to actually work on trying to get a solution on a bipartisan basis."

I am getting wild blog reports, one even linking to Drudge, that the GOP Goatse’s have already caved in, and there just hasn’t been an announcement yet.
Anyone getting word like this?
Oh, yes, SURE, Mitch McConnell is the right man to help the Republicans. McConnell worked with Harry Reid and Obama to raise the debt limit, increase taxes and fund Obamacare.
Don’t we have a true Republican to send to confer with the Regressives?
Me too. And it would say "Hillerich & Bradsby" on it.
Not that I know of. By cave, do you mean like literally caved in and accepted wholesale any and all demands Obama and the Senate make? And let them decide all the terms and conditions? Do you mean that kind of full scale caving?
I think you’re kidding yourself.
Thanks for posting those important links (Matt Bevin, Joe Carr & Lee Bright)!
If Republicans were to lose the House it would be a catastrophe and the fault of the voters. Anyone except a RINO/Libertarian is going to vote Republican to stand against Obama/Reid/Pelosi. Anyone who does not vote Republican is responsible for giving the nationalist socialist more power.
Maybe what could happen is voting in enough Republicans to get control of the House and Senate while making sure that those most responsible for failing to negotiate properly are primaried and replaced with Tea Party candidates. The idea would be to have the hardcore socialists in the minority in both sections of Congress while letting the majority know they will be scrutinized carefully every step of the way. Just something I am thinking of. Regardless, the middle ground as disappeared a ton in the past couple weeks so the conservative/libertarian side MUST act accordingly.
We’re winning! Time to begin negotiating with ourselves! Quick! Hurry! Before we actually win!
Boehnor and McConnell are still trying to figure out how to translate surrender so it sounds like victory.
Total capitulation is being mentioned.
Breitbart just posted one, can’t get to the link yet...
New commercial on TV just now with RINO Utah gov and Dimwit IN gov wanting people to sign petition to stop the gov shut down. Stinking RINO and Commies going together.
BUMP!
The rest of them should either get on board or shut up and go away.
You’re right. The conservative base of the GOP is going to abandon it. The Republicans ARE empty suits because they can’t articulate ONE SINGLE position they have. Only the strongest Republican bastions will hold out against this tsunami. We’re looking at the dems gaining 60 seats. Or more.
Please do not attempt to cast libertarians into that camp. Ted Cruz is out there demonstrating and advocating for libertarian principles.
Nonsense.
Obama will get some of what he wants, the GOP will get some of what they want.
Conservatives will scream because they don't get everything but this never happens when you only have 1/3 of Govt.
I got a request for funds from the RNC today and the letter came from John McCain. I laughed my butt off. They just don’t get it yet.
I sent the envelope back and said they must have confused me with someone else, that I was a Conservative.
Who says we'll get nothing?
We'll get something, but not everything.
