The early settlers named the town “Chicken” because they couldn’t spell “Ptarmigan”.
No sheriffs in Alaska. Boroughs are patrolled by State Troopers, but don't forget the sheer size of Alaska. The boroughs are HUGE tracts of wilderness with an occasional small village here and there, very few roads, and likewise for municipal services.
Yeah, that’d drive me to drinking too....

The concept of clean water enforcement near Chicken seems a joke
The top EPA Alaska “official” claimed that they had been provided with information about human trafficking going on in Chicken. I kid you not.
More proof that to be a supervisor in fedgov you don’t need any intelligence.
There must have been other easy to spell animals in the area, Dog, Rat, Cat come to mind.
Town motto: “I got laid in Chicken”... heard that in the Chicken Saloon when I was there..
What the hell does the EPA have to do with human trafficing?

Of course, that would mean Congress would actually have to do its Constitutional job and not slough it all off onto Executive agencies.
!
“Human Trafficing” where?
Between Chicken and Boundary?
The EPA doofus claimed they had info that there was human trafficking going on over the Canadian border. It was the Alaska Environmental Crimes Task Force that was involved in the raid. Go to thr Alaska Dispatch website for the whole ridiculous story.
