NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)-- In the midst of major changes in health care, United HealthCare has sent thousands of pink slips to Connecticut doctors.
Termination letters went to physicians caring for Medicare patients.
Those letters were sent out to doctors caring for 'Medicare Advantage' patients.
It's a plan, marketed to Seniors to provide additional services through UnitedHealthCare.
A mix of primary care and specialty doctors are affected by it. And it comes at a questionable time.
Open enrollment for Medicare starts next Tuesday, and it's still not clear at this time as to which doctors are still in the United network....

Pelosi should be please they can finally pursue their real dreams of being a clown or a painter.
No, Peloony will be pleased because of the thousands of potential additions to unemployment, because she believes that unemployment checks are the best way to improve the economy.
I actually don’t think he knew he was lying. I don’t give him credit for being too bright. He is a believer in his own fantastic ideas that defy human nature. He is clearly not as bright as his handlers.
To be clear the doctors are not “fired” from practicing medicine, they were just removed from the United Healthcare network. Still sucks for the patients who are no longer covered with that Dr.

“If you like your plan”
You are screwed.
“For patients, he (0bama) made a sweeping pledge that no matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what. My view is that health care reform should be guided by a simple principle: fix whats broken and build on what works.
It would be great if some reporter stuffed those words down Obozos throat at a press conference. “How do you explain that Mr President? Did you lie to the American people??”
My doctor and his group were also fired. that is, the contract for next year was not signed.
I don’t believe United fired the Doctors but that the doctors groups found the terms unacceptable. In my case, a very substantial portion of the groups income comes from various United patients. The loss of revenue would be large, especially since it will go to one of the two major competitors Humana or Blue Cross blue shield.Years ago when it became necessary to signup for medicare and study the situation I asked my medical group if they had input. After all, they had to deal with it all. They hedged but said many in the area find United Medicare Advantage to serve their needs. I had already pretty much decided but that cinched the deal.
Last year I panicked at the same tactic and rushed to find a new plan. Literally hours after I signed on with Humana, they settled. I cancelled Humana and re upped with the United Medicare advantage which is outstanding.
I’m optimistic it will be resolved if the same problem exists for United in several locations.
Socialist Security is also a Ponzi scheme, but we still have it after 75 years. It doesn't matter if it doesn't work. Obama just has to get it implemented, and the "hater" name calling will be all he needs to keep it going in perpetuity.
I just saw the UnitedHealthcard ad from AARP on TV. It states that you will be able to see ANY DOCTOR THAT ACCEPTS MEDICARE. Something does not smell right in Connecticut.
Yep it’s a lot, about 19% according to one article. But I guess the next question should
be how many of these 58,000 people enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans in Connecticut
do these doctors see under the plan. I think I saw in one article one doctor had some
thirty patients under the Medicare Advantage plan. So the impact will definitely vary
from location to location.
How many planned ‘complete physicals’ will turn into ‘complete autopsies’ ????
Isn’t United Health Care the provider for AARP? I am 70 and my wife is 66. We don’t belong to AARP. Never did like them or their policies.
BCBS may be the last man standing in this whole mess.
Actually, our federal systems are perfect for single payor (don't tell anyone).
By the way, did you know we are now adding American Indians to the FEHBP plan. It must have been part of some bill congress passed....
Floating hospitols were predicted by Freepers not to long ago, in dog years.
United Healthcare was force unionized by SEIU and then pushed into primary care for AARP.
I suspect this has something to do with it.
You are correct. Instead, the republicans will save the Dems from their votes with defund/delay attempts.
They should enact it all without exception or waivers.
2000+ page bill, and 10,535 pages of regulations. What could go wrong? Thats eight Bibles worth.
Seniors, as a group, voted AGAINST Zer0.....TWICE!!
