This must be the “militia” our founders wrote of.
When Ubama declares martial law DHS will come and claim it.
I was opposed to all this arming of smaller cities and town police forces with more advanced weaponry.
I’m having second thoughts.
Yes, they will cause a lot of deaths, but for those of us who need and want real firepower, the physically closer to us that it is stored, the easier it will be to obtain.
These faux LEO’s will be just doing their job, while we will be fighting for our families, our homes, and our childrens future.
Not only will we be more determined, we are a lot smarter than the average LEO.
I know who’s side Im betting on.
Hmm, didn’t know IEDs were a big problem in Preston, ID (population 5,204). You would think it would have made the news...
It isnt as bad as it appears. Having the toys isnt the most important part of the equation. Unless you know how to use them and are motivated theyll be taken away by someone(s) who do and is. Just saying...
A few months ago we saw stories that they were passing these out. Many said the stories were bunk.
Wait until they start using these at DUI checkpoints.
If we’re not breaking any laws, what have we to fear? (barf)
Did they get the flame thrower attachment like the JBTs had in Big Bear?
Nobody is talking about the O & M budgetary impact of owning such a limited production vehicle. Everything might work on it today, but the only use it will get will be training exercises and even then parts will eventually need replacing. When it needs an engine or tranny overhaul, it will cost more than one FTE officer position. But that is a future hit and maybe not even on the watch of the present Chief.
Preston must be a huge ungovernable city in a 3rd world country to need those!!
Give a fool a hammer and everything starts to look like a nail.
There is a major weakness to armored vehicles that is not very obvious. It is also relatively inexpensive, non-technical, and requires extensive “3-shop” repairs to the vehicle, if it doesn’t ruin the vehicle outright. It needs no maintenance or personnel in the area to activate.
It is a “tiger trap”, a wide and deep hole in the ground, hopefully with water in it, concealed with a tarp with dirt and plants on top of it.
When the armored vehicle hits one, even if it is not a direct hit, it tumbles into the pit, often “jelly side down”, and is just a nightmare to extricate. It can often even kill the crew within.
The hard part is locating it where an armored vehicle is likely to cross. This can be done by setting up obstacles, to channelize the armored vehicle to the trap.
The way to defeat a tiger trap is the military rule to never send in armor unaccompanied by infantry, and visa versa. But police are usually unfamiliar with this rule, so send in armored vehicles by themselves.
The way the government is giving these things away, I have to wonder whether they’d be willing to trade one for my old Toyota.
“For every action, there is an opposite and equal reaction”
How long will this law enforcement have that armored vehicle in a real civil war before an American slaps the driver in the head at some donut shop, takes the vehicle away from them?
What a joke!
They could have squished that Mad Black Woman like a bug.
