Why aren’t they suing the AFRICAN nations that were the suppliers of slaves for the European slave traders?
One aspect of the story needs to be repeated often.
Not all of the slaves went to the original colonies.
I believe more slaves went to Brazil than the 13 original colonies. To hear the academic left speak-slavery started in 1621 and the USA is entirely to blame for it all.
Offer any descendent of slaves a boat ride back to Africa.
That should settle things.
Counter sue for the cost of every public building and project built during the colonial period, and all “aid” provided since then.
A group of countries populated and run by people who can’t do for themselves demand rich countries subsidize their uselessness for eternity.
In all of this slave talk were is the mention of the Spanish?
We should just nuke the islands and be done with it.
Perhaps Britian, Holland, and France should send the complainants a bill for improving their lots in life.
What no one will mention here is that there used to be other ORIGINAL ISLAND populations before the current almost all black ones that DIED because the slaves brought diseases that killed them all. (Kind of like Columbus and Indians)...
So there are NO original folks left to sue IMO. This is just another ploy where a crying population is trying to use the courts to get rich quick.
IMO they need to get a life and go away.
On the positive side of slavery (yes there was one); wasn't good ethically at all, but it saved the lives of all those sold who would have been killed by the opposing tribes anyway.
So my point is that if there was no slavery, there would have been none of these people to be descended from because their forefathers would have been slaughtered in tribal warfare. How about going back to sue the victorious tribes that captured and sold them? (their own brothers) PS: Slavery is still going on from Africa through the Arab nations and where is the outrage? Anyone hear word one about that and who is doing anything about that today?
Offer each one coach airfare with a meal and a movie back to their precious africa.
Never any mention of the role the Muslims played....HMMM wonder why? Anyone want a good read about the slave trade in Africa, read “The White Nile” although it is actually about the opening of Africa to the West it has great accounts of the slave trade. I also read that the Arabs [Muslims] enslaved over 18 to 20 million White people from countries they invaded in Europe, where are the reparations for their progeny?

It is clear race-baiting shakedowns are a lucrative global business.

no, no, no....this is legitimate, same as here in the US. Every former slave owner should have to pay into a fund that will be used to compenstae every former slave.
Guess what happens to all that slave reparation money....within a matter of months, the whites will get it all back.
The UK should respond with a an ultimatum - drop the law suit or we declare war - good old fashioned, WWII type war.

I think they should pay them a lump sum and then stop all foreign aid, bar them from ever entering the donor countries and deport the rest.
It’s a little unclear from the article (or my reading comprehension has taken another hit from lack of coffee) but exactly where is this suit taking place? In an EU court? I ask because it appears to be one of those “go for the deep pockets” lawsuits - note nobody is suing Spain - and those of the U.S. are deeper than most. Empty, but deep.
