On Monday, former vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) wrote an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, suggesting that Republicans drop all Obamacare demands in their push for a deal on the debt ceiling and a continuing resolution to fund the government. Instead, he suggested that Republicans look for a bargain on entitlement reform, a pet project of his, as well as tax reform. This isn't a grand bargain. For that, we need a complete rethinking of government's approach to helping the most vulnerable, and a complete rethinking of government's approach to health care. But right now, we need to find common ground. We need to open the federal government. We need to pay our bills todayand make sure we can pay our bills tomorrow. So let's negotiate an agreement to make modest reforms to entitlement programs and the tax code, Ryan wrote.

He hasn’t fallen from anywhere. This has always been how he operates. Just look at his record. He’s not there to “represent” anyone other than the people feathering his nest with a nice lobbyist job waiting for him after he leaves congress.
FU Ryan, you and your RINO buddies can all go to hell, this is exactly why this Nation is on autopilot when it comes to spending our tax dollars, yet, RINO’s cry a river anytime a congress (Tea Party) member stands up and represents the interest of the American people and demand defunding Obamacare, demand a budget, and demands the government operate within its budget.
FU Ryan, you have thrown in the towel before the real fight even begins!
I would believe that w/o factoring in the NSA spying. Factor in the NSA and I believe it's a given.
He has always been GOP-E. Big time.
He’s a CINO. It’s a mystery why FR endorsed Ryan and Mittens when JimRob swore up & down he wouldn’t ever do such a thing.
ObamaCare is a massive violation of so many parts of the constitution, and it is the hill we should be willing to (figuratively) die on. ObamaCare alone gives the fedgov more power over our lives than all fedgov’s other unconstitutional activities combined. This must be killed, and then we can work on the rest of fedgov’s problems. I’m okay with shutting down fedgov for the next three years (or three decades) if necessary to stop ObamaCare.
As for Ryan, bad call on his part. Very bad call.
Paul Ryan makes Jack Kemp, a well-known caver, look pretty good.
Dan Quayle really looks good in retrospect compared to Ryan.
Maybe he has been programmed by Joe Biden to whom he was so deferential one night in October 2012.
Quayle always was good.
He would have made a good president.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
paul ryan has been dead to me a long time ago.
this just yet again vindicates my decision.
Wouldn’t it be something? I’m so sick of having RINOs forced on me! McLame and Mittens. Enough is enough. I WILL NOT VOTE FOR ANOTHER RINO! I can’t take it anymore.
Agree....I have had it. Might as well register as a Dem if we’re going to keep doing that.
Never Dem, but if it’s another RINO I will either vote third party or write in. I WILL NOT VOTE FOR CHRIS CHRISTIE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. He has to be stopped in the primary!
I would have to concur with this. I think the problem with Ryan is that he is a politician first and foremost so he has to concern himself with PR relations and public opinion and he, I presume, did not get the public opinion on his side in this.
I still consider this a letdown of sorts, but I can understand where Ryan is coming from. The Tea party might need to win a majority in the House and Senate before they can get achieve all of their political goals. Not saying this makes Ryan particularly reliable, as he has show himself to be yet another career politician, but I think some level of realistic assessment is needed.
If the Tea Party starts relying on politicians of any kind to do their heavy lifting for them, this is not even scratching the surface as far as the letdowns and heartbreaks they will have to endure.
Yeah Paul, go after those people on Medicare and SS instead of going after the POS called ObamaCare.
Great winning strategy there.
For guys like Ryan, rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic would be too controversial. A little dusting of the chairs is about the best they can manage.
So are you saying you agree with how Ryan is putting this or do you completely object to it?
blackmail?
