A number of us freepers have been posting stories about the over reach by the regime on the National Parks closures. This is a populist issue that along with all the others associated with this shutdown has, according to a recent poll, driven O`Bozo`s approval ratings down to 37%. I believe we need to jump on this and hammer it home to the "low info voters". A simple and petty example of the vindictiveness of the "Spite House" such as this parks issue illustrates it for even the blind.
Very admirable by the Fisher House Foundation.
“Fisher House Foundation offers to cover death benefits”
A private foundation has stepped forward to cover death benefits for the families of troops who’ve been killed in combat after the Pentagon confirmed the payments have been suspended as a result of the partial government shutdown.
Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., announced Tuesday that the Maryland-based Fisher House Foundation has offered to cover the $100,000 payments that the government typically pays out to families within three days of a soldier’s death.
“I am so grateful that the Fisher House Foundation volunteered to help military families to make sure there is no funding gap during a time of unimaginable grief, “ Manchin said in a statement, adding that the organization has agreed to cover flights, hotels and other incidentals for family members.
The Pentagon says that as long as the budget impasse lasts, it will not be able to pay death benefits to the families of troops who’ve been killed in combat.
Or an oxyacetylene torch.
My point, this is a chink in one of their base groups.
BTW, others love them too. I`m an avid bicyclist who can ride on the roads if needed but the Ohio and Erie Canal Tow Path is simply beautiful, especially this time of year. http://www.ohioeriecanal.org/trail.html
