Alaska slams feds for keeping hunters off land
The Washington Times ^ | October 9, 2013 | Stephen Dinan

Posted on 10/09/2013 3:52:39 AM PDT by Biggirl

Alaska lawmakers accused the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service of violating federal law by shutting down hunting on its lands during the government shutdown, saying a 1980 law guarantees state residents must have access to the land.

If I knew photoshop I would make a graphic of a head mounted trophy, the head of a park ranger that is.

No sense whining about it, just follow WI lead and ignore it.

Yeah, let’s piss off a bunch of guys that can shoot a deer at 300 yds.

"They're all on foot," the gunsmith agreed. "I guess I could take your truck and go for help. But with no witnesses there'd be no reason they couldn't shoot you and say you attacked them." He paused, considering. "We could both pack up now, and drive away..." His voice trailed off. Run away from this two-bit assassination team? Behnke found himself thinking.

"But I'm not going to do that," he finished. "Help me bring the shooting bench and my gear over around on this side," he said briskly. "Then you can get in your truck and drive out of here if you want." Orville Cracker saw the look on the old man's face and shook his head.

"I think I'll stick around."

Either I blew the quote or you didn’t read “Unintended Consequences”.

A lot of hunters in Alaska are Native Americans, Native Alaskans, and Eskimos who retain a right to subsistence hunting.

The feds better back off or the Democrats can just surrender Begich’s seat in the Senate to the Republicans.

This should make for a couple of good reality TV episodes on “Alaska State Trooper”.

When you include the Federale bureaucracy our Federale Gov’t is most definitely a Democrat/liberal/socialist government...and it is making plenty of enemies these days.

Very dumb! And will lead to more anti-statism and libertarian attitudes

Why, the most wore out varmint rifle I have is worth more than that stamped steel junk!

“There’s that.” Crocker agreed. Then he frowned. “What about the bodies?”

“Leave ‘em for the coyotes.”

Every time the Feds over react, they piss the locals off, fed officers get fired and removed/transferred, and then it takes the FEds 20 years to get the locals to want to get along. You would think they'd eventually learn a thing or two.

Couple years back, we had two fed cops start doing boat safety checks on the Yukon; ended up pointing guns at everybody, handcuffing & assaulting 70 year old gold miners; heads rolled in the Park Service; people were fired. The feds don't have the resources to keep the people off the land if they want to go there, Feds are just lucky it will be minus 20 in another two weeks and all the locals will be home watching the dish, feeding the wood stove.

ANd the Indians; well they haven't ever paid attention to any govt's laws; it's sacraligious to their world view, way of seeing everything. The Feds can't get the Indians to do anything they want them to; leave the Indians alone. Whites could learn a thing or two from those dumb Indians 50 years removed from the stone age, no joke.

Obama will even have the dems up here pissed off at his own Dems, nx election; Keep it up Big Ears; we need another Reagen in D.C.

"If this continues theres going to be a bunch of pissed off hunters." Might I add that as somAlaskans hunt for food for their tables, banning hunting will result in hungry, "pissed off hunters". Given the long legal traditions regarding substistance hunting, Bammy and his ParcMan minions are embarking on a classic case of awakening the sleeping giant.
