Freep mail me to be on or off the Daily Bread ping list

Life Without Bread

October 9, 2013

In cultures with an abundance of food choices, bread is no longer a necessary part of the diet so some choose to live without it for various reasons. In the first century, however, bread was viewed as an essential staple. A diet without bread was a foreign concept.

One day a crowd of people sought out Jesus because He had performed the miracle of multiplying loaves of bread (John 6:11,26). They asked Him to perform a sign like the manna from heaven that God had provided for His people in the desert (6:30-31; Ex. 16:4). When Jesus said He was “the true bread from heaven” (John 6:32), the people didn’t understand. They wanted literal daily bread. But Jesus was saying that He had been sent to be their spiritual bread; He would supply their daily spiritual needs. If they, by faith, applied and took His words and life into their very souls, they would experience everlasting satisfaction (v.35).

Jesus doesn’t want to be an optional commodity in our diets; He desires to be the essential staple in our lives, our “necessary” food. As first-century Jews could never imagine life without physical bread, may we never attempt to live without Jesus, our spiritual bread!

For Further Thought

What are some ways you can let Jesus, the
Bread of Life, and His words satisfy the
hunger pangs of your soul today?
Only spiritual bread satisfies the hunger of the soul.

Your Snow Test Says You're Independent
You feel like something good will happen to you in the next few weeks.

You love to work, especially when work is creative. You have the makings of a successful artist.

You are an independent, individualistic person. You thrive when you're doing your own thing.

Your biggest worry in life is your family. You stay up at night thinking about them.

When it comes time to relax, you have no problem letting go. You are already pretty relaxed as is!

TODAY IN HISTORY

Sgt. Alvin C. York
United States Army
Company G, 328th Infantry, 82d Division
8 October 1918

Citation:

"After his platoon had suffered heavy casualties and 3 other noncommissioned officers had become casualties, Cpl. York assumed command. Fearlessly leading 7 men, he charged with great daring a machinegun nest which was pouring deadly and incessant fire upon his platoon. In this heroic feat the machinegun nest was taken, together with 4 officers and 128 men and several guns."

I am part Inuit.

As a child, my Dad (who had been stationed in the Aleutians during the Korean War) Taught me igloo construction and Arctic survival Skills.

I grew up eating Creamed Finnan haddie, S.O.S, Home made Baked beans and Alaskan Crab before it was fashionable.

I shoveled snow for half a century and survived the Blizzard of 78.

When I finally came to my senses, I moved to Florida.

My people have words for 27 types of snow and i hate every dam one of them.

You're Agreeable
You feel like something good will happen to you in the next few weeks.

You love to work (HA!!!), especially when work is creative. You have the makings of a successful artist. Not even close! LOL!

You are a cooperative, agreeable person. You enjoy the company of others, and you enjoy compromising for the good of the group.

Your biggest worry in life is your family. You stay up at night thinking about them.

When it comes time to relax, you have no problem letting go. You are already pretty relaxed as is!

What a buncha...crock! LOL!
