The moral structure of pedophilia is simply this: the welfare of children is subordinate to the sexual gratification of adults.

Jerry Sandusky, former defensive coordinator for the Penn State football team, established a charity called The Second Mile, for boys, mostly fatherless, who were living in troubled homes. It is not clear that he did so initially to lure boys into a trap. But that is what eventually happened, according to the testimony of the men who recalled with shame and disgust their initiation into sodomy.

Raymond Lahey, former Catholic bishop of Antigonish, was apprehended in the Ottawa airport and his computer files scanned. They contained nude pictures of boys. Lahey resigned in disgrace. The Canadian press tried hard to conceal the sex of the children, and suppressed any report about the exotic destinations to which the bishop commonly flew. One isn’t to inquire too closely into travel agencies that do a hopping business flying men to places like Thailand, which teems with boy prostitutes. And girl prostitutes too; apparently Thailand is a favorite sweating-off ground for Korean businessmen.

We should be thankful that the Sanduskys and Laheys are still considered monstrous. But in contemporary America that condemnation rests on sentiment and not on moral reasoning. No one can simultaneously explain why their actions were so vile and uphold the first commandment of the sexual revolution: fulfill thy desires.

Capital punishment is a reasonable consequence for such depraved crimes.

I'm no fan of the sexual revolution, but to be fair most proponents do have something in there about consenting adults.

The effort to normalize this, is more pervasive than you think.

Consider fashions designed for young women. Do they not have a boyish look to them? Do they make that young woman(18-22), look like a 12 to 14 year old boy? Overwhelmingly, they do. One has to ask, why?

Why do so many young women’s fashions make them look like young boys instead?

Women’s fashions are created by gay men...for gay men. Why?

The answer lies in that gay men find boys of the 12-14 years to be the ideal plaything. They dress young women to look like young boys, such that normally heterosexual men might see such a woman and condition him to not view homosexuality as perverted because they themselves have either been aroused by a woman dressed in such a manner.

Now look at the wares being peddled by the Abercrombie & Fitch bunch, and Hollister, ...would any self respecting adult male consider wearing anything from A&F? A&F/Hollister is for girls and homo’s.

This conditioning is intended to suppress the revulsion that straight men have to the idea that a 12 to 14 year old boy is a plaything. Since many may have played or at least oogled a young woman dressed similarly.

I didn't look initially to see who had written this, but by the time I was a couple of paragraphs into it, I thought, "This is a good thinker."

A few more paragraphs, and I thought, "This is an uncommonly good writer."

And a couple more inches down the column, "This is a person whose emotions, intellect, and soul are well-engaged."

Then I got down to the bottom: Anthony Esolen. Of course.

I have only ever read one Esolen article, the one he wrote in May after the BSA fiasco. But I expect his other writing is of the same good quality as that one.

Fair enough. It will probably go to eroding the age at which children are considered adults.

Factoid: Up to the late 19th century the age of consent in UK and in most US states under common law was 10.

A cable TV show set in NYC shortly after the Civil War that I generally enjoyed kept playing this up, what with child whores and all, to where I couldn’t watch it any more.

The popularity of Brazilian and Hollywood waxes and pubic shaving creeps me out. Why any adult would want their pubic area to look like that of a pre-pubescent child, and why an intimate partner would be sexually attracted to that, is beyond me.
