I also was annoyed a lot by the trailer.
A lot of yelling and CGI hype. Ugh.
I hope the 2 hour version is better.
It’s better, because the 3D stuff is amazing and it’s a very beautiful film.
As for Sandra Bullock, her role probably didn’t give her a lot. She was supposed to be a researcher who had received only a few months training on being in space and suddenly found herself in the worst possible situation and had to cope. So an emotional reaction was to be expected in this situation.
The only thing I found touching, which I posted earlier, is that at one point, desperate, she wants to pray but can’t. She says that she can’t pray because nobody ever taught her to pray. To me, that was a very, very touching line.
She finally “prays” to her daughter, who died at the age of 4, as her “angel” to bring her home.
But I thought the “nobody taught me to pray” line was pretty devastating.
I might watch if it comes out on cable but only in hope of watching Clooney burn up in the atmosphere or die a lingering death.
