And now the feds have put up cones to keep people out of scenic overlooks on Mount Rushmore.
It FINALLY Ooccurred to me why this is happening.
They are doing a trial run to see how well they could institute martial law. They want to see if the populace has been sufficiently conditioned to accept the authority of the government that they can be cowed.
I've seen it tagged on Twitter as the Spite House.

our feral gubbamint at work.
Well come onnnn, it’s Obamas country not ours. He is the Dear Leader!
wasted time and energy. kick the cone over the edge
“Some comments at the link indicate that the cones were up prior to October 1st, so Id suggest taking this story with a grain of salt.”
I was there on Sep. 25 and there were no cones... I have pictures on my phone from one of the pullouts.
Tell me this is from The Onion
I believe the Founding Fathers would have considered gunthugs to be close to the bottom of the list of essential government personnel...
A number of posts were made using the Argus Leader story including this one of mine yesterday afternoon:

You can always post Gannett stories using the title and link only, and briefly paraphrase the essence of the story.
Keeping park rangers on duty to let people in: non-essential.
Hiring security to keep illegal aliens out of the country: non-essential.
Of course
If Obama doesn’t do things like this, who would even notice the government is shut down? He’s just trying to remind the serfs how much they need him. :)

Yes, I know that it is open now, but for three days, the feds blocked access to it even though it has nothing to do with the federal budget.
Also, Governor Walker in Wisconsin has told the feds to pound sand. All parks are reopened, including the Dells.
I wish that there were other governors with as much courage. I can't imagine any fisherman (or patriot, for that matter) in Florida supporting Rick Scott if he allows the feds to confiscate fishing boats on the open ocean. There is ZERO difference between the cost of the feds cracking down on these fishermen and the cost of them doing their normal jobs. In fact, I bet it costs much more for the additional patrols.
I hope that someone is keeping a list of all of the hateful and vindictive actions taken (by this administration) to make things so unpleasant for the American people...those they vowed to protect and keep secure...and SERVE.
(serve....what a joke!)
The trash goes back to Clintoon. Bush didn’t do a clean-up either so the job will be “huger”.
