A Canadian tech firm that has provided service to that country's single-payer health care system is behind the glitch-ridden United States national health care exchange site healthcare.gov.
CGI Federal is a subsidiary of Montreal-based CGI Group. With offices in Fairfax, Va., the subsidiary has been a darling of the Obama administration, which since 2009 has bestowed it with $1.4 billion in federal contracts, according to USAspending.gov.
The "CGI" in the parent company's name stands for "Conseillers en Gestion et Informatique" in French, which roughly translates to "Information Systems and Management Consultants." However, the firm offers another translation: "Consultants to Government and Industry."
The company is deeply embedded in Canadas single-payer system. CGI has provided IT services to the Canadian Ministries of Health in Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Saskatchewan, as well as to the national health provider, Health Canada, according to CGI's Canadian website.

Outsourcing? Doesn’t America need jobs and...well...programs that work?
ObamaWare for CrapCare.
Exporting CanadaCare to America. Where are barriers to trade when you need them?
Why Canadian?
Were the Cuban exchange companies too busy to help?
“And remember: when you shop, buy american!”
Heard that recently..makes me laugh in light of this info.
I have no interest in defending Obamacare or this software company, but there is no one Canadian health care system. There are separate systems in every province that are supposed to run according to federal guidelines (called the Canada Health Act). There are also separate systems for the northern territories, the military and diplomats — a total of 13 separate systems, I believe. The federal government only legislates health care standards; it does not actually manage any of the provincial systems. Individuals and companies do not sign up with any federal entity, and doctors, hospitals, medical labs et cetera do not directly receive any money from the federal government.
Now why would they hire a consulting firm with expertise in single payer systems to design and deliver a syatem that uses complicated exchanges? And one to be used by a population 10x that of Canada? Great laser focus on American jobs, too, President Obama. Although to tell the truth, my initial conclusion when they rolled this piece of non-working crap out was that it was built by employees recruited by “quota.”
Obama would ONLY do this with al Qaeda/MB in charge.
Follow the money (except no one in DC cares a whit).
I wonder if that is the same company that built Canada’s long-gun registry — you know; the one that was supposed to cost a few million but ended up costing BILlions... And lost unknown thousands of data records...

We have the most expensive healthcare in the world. Meanwhile we our outsourcing every job in America which can be outsourced.
This will not end well for America.
Stop outsourcing.
Bring back American jobs.
Sorry. We “are” outsourcing.
Second paragraph, second sentence.
So each province taxes and administers their own system, which is policed by the feds?
How about the Nigerian companies?
