Friends and former Brooklyn neighbors recalled Miriam Carey as a hardworking single mother who had every reason to live.
“She had everything going for her,” said Yolanda Napoleon, 40. “A beautiful baby, a man helping her with her baby, a job making 100k per year. Her child was her everything.”
Carey, 34, was a dental hygienist who was licensed in both New York and Connecticut. She lived in Brooklyn as recently as 2005 and had a condo in Stamford, Conn.
Friends, who grew up with her and her four sisters on Stanley Avenue in Brooklyn, were mystified about how Carey’s life came to end in a fiery confrontation with several police and Secret Service agents

When the media starts throwing out the crazy spin this quick, it's obviously the start of their character assassination angle for CYA purposes.
How do we know? Well, when a REAL crazy nutjob shows up, like the shooter at the Navy Yard, they hold off on the crazy accusations until much later - if mentioned at all. It's all about the gun at that point, and not the whacko using it.

Why was she in DC? She was from out of town. Was she on vacation or what? Driving around in Washington DC can be confusing if you’ve never been there before. Was she lost? One time I was driving around in DC area as a tourist, and I ended up pulling into the CIA place. The guard was nice. Didn’t shoot me.
I’ll take odds that she was under duress. No idea by whom or for what reason but she does not sound like someone who would do this voluntarily.
Often times a good one can make more than a dentist.
Watch the video. I didn't see any "ramming" of anything. We see her car suddenly surrounded by other cars and blocked in, and she quickly tries to turn around by moving forward and bumping into a single black 1-2 foot high post (one of many spaced at intervals) at low speed. Then there are plainclothes men surrounding her pointing guns, she hesitates a sec, then freaks out, backs up a bit, zooms off, and cooks her goose.
My guess: she lost control of her car, then panicked when the police threw down on her. One mistake led to another and the trigger-happy DC cops wasted her.

Apparently, mine must suck because she drives a beat up, 1980s era Toyota pickup. My dentist drives a Lexus and lives in a 7000sqft home on a mountaintop he hired my company to build for him. He’s a friend; we’ve known each other since 1991.
Her actions are a lot less unreasonable when you realize she was attacked by people pointing guns at her - the first wave of which was likely plainclothed.
Two blocks in a different direction, there is a homeless shelter where some of the scariest people you’ll ever see hang out on a daily basis.
As she wasn’t from there, it seems reasonable to presume she didn’t know where she was when she got jumped and freaked out thinking she was being attacked and her life was in danger.
Which, incidentally, she was, and it was.
What video were you watching? Clearly the woman, with an 18 month old baby in tow, was crashing into the cop cars and they were not plain clothes cops. This is so strange. I can’t believe they just shot her. After seeing so many of those riding ulous high speed car chase videos wishing they would shoot the bastards. And this lady seemed to be doing nothing to warrant a death sentence.
