Friends and former Brooklyn neighbors recalled Miriam Carey as a hardworking single mother who had every reason to live.
She had everything going for her, said Yolanda Napoleon, 40. A beautiful baby, a man helping her with her baby, a job making 100k per year. Her child was her everything.
Carey, 34, was a dental hygienist who was licensed in both New York and Connecticut. She lived in Brooklyn as recently as 2005 and had a condo in Stamford, Conn.
Friends, who grew up with her and her four sisters on Stanley Avenue in Brooklyn, were mystified about how Careys life came to end in a fiery confrontation with several police and Secret Service agents

Be careful about neighbors. Sometimes they don’t get along.
Here in CA you are made to pay for lots of liability insurance and the people working at the dentist don’t have to pay that under the dentist.
The Dentist gets part of the worker’s jobs.
Tomorrow we’ll see photos of a pressure cooker they found in her kitchen with a ruler next to it for scale.
We discussed that on another thread earlier. I would like to know from someone familiar with field LE tactics if they are ever trained to or expected to preform shooting tires out.
I don;t see it in real life, only on TV.
Amen don-o ... Amen.
I’ve watched the video of her pulling away while those guns were pointed at the car. What mother with her 18 month old daughter in the car would do that?
I can come up with 3 possibilities:
1. Suicide wish
2. Fear, either real or imagined.
3. Escape. Is there anything in the car which would have put her behind bars? Who knows.
If she was unarmed, what triggered the gunshots? A verbal threat? Did she say anything at all? How many officers fired their weapons? Are there any witness besides the Capitol Police? NOT looking to place blame on the Capitol Police. There is just so much we do not know.
It is a strange story.
Any idea what that *protester’s* sign says?
You're newer here, so you get the benefit of the doubt.
With some people here, cops are all cold-blooded killers. And so when somebody like you comes along and throws cold water on that delusion, you get flamed.
You're right, of course. The woman was a nutcase. What I am waiting to find out, though, is if she was armed and really needed to be gunned down.
you’re watching way too much TV
Now ask the other question.
Who shoots up an unarmed woman?
Sorry I missed the other thread. Would have been interesting to read the comments. Your response about only on TV is nonsense. Cops put tire
strips on highways all the time to disable tires and slow down or disable vehicles. If one does not have tire strips use a gun to disable the tires.
I’m older vlpate. I’ll agree with you.
My apology Lancey, I am not older than you.
No clue. Not a very effective sign though. There's practically a novel on that thing in tiny text. I can't imagine anyone taking the time to read any of it - good or bad.
I guess I just imagining when I see high speed chases on “Live TV” and they put down tires strips on highways or interstates to disable vehicles.
Funny. I never seen high speed chases where cops are shooting at the vehicle to disable it.
“News reports that she had a history of mental problems.”
They must realize a big time mistake was made and the coverup begins - maybe!!
There are some good theories out there and most of the needed (necessary) information to reach a logical and true conclusion none of us or only a few of us will see, regrettably.
