on a more serious note, Fox just said the perp was bipolar, which probably means she wasn’t a perp. Instead, she was probably in a manic stage, and if she was delusional and it involved anything related to MIB chasing her, it would totally explain why she was frantically trying to protect her baby.

What I find interesting is that they closed down a couple of streets around complex last night to search her condo, evacuated the building. Yet, the guy who went to Jacksonville airport a couple of days ago who said he had a bomb, they only went to his home to search. No evacuating the area for searching, no closing streets. Just the home.
Seems they placed a whole lot more into an unstable woman, than a man who threatened the airport.

heard the term stanchion used but I also heard someone use lift gate barrier in one of the comments about the police car damage. Many people don’t see these very often, but I do.
There are various types and I referred to them earlier as “pop-up” barriers. Some have a high strength catch cable arrangement and pop up out of the pavement like an underground tennis net of steel. Others are a literal steel barrier plate that shoots up out of the ground at a good speed. Catch one of these at speed and you have a messed up car.
Time to background check! We must close that car show loophole!
CBS News reports that Miriam Carey was fired from her dental hygientist job in April 2012 after getting into a fight with her bosses about using a handicapped parking space they felt she didn’t need to use.
Carey’s mother, Idella Carey, told ABC News on Thursday night that her daughter began suffering from post-partum depression after giving birth to her daughter, Erica, last August.
“A few months later, she got sick,” she said. “She was depressed. … She was hospitalized.”
Idella Carey said her daughter had “no history of violence” and she didn’t know why she was in Washington on Thursday. She said she thought Carey was taking Erica to a doctor’s appointment in Connecticut.
CBS News reports that Carey’s condo association sued her last December, but they settled in February. It is not known what the complaint was about.

The DC LEOs come off trigger happy here. BUT - in their defense, they didn’t know whether she had a bomb or something in the vehicle, if it was a case of Sudden Jihadi Syndrome, or whatever... so they reacted as trained.

My beef is with the initial Twitter feeds I was seeing from from ABC, Bloomberg, etc... “Shooter is dead...” “Police say “Shooter is down”... “Shots Fired in DC!!!”
The media was salivating over the possibility. But - no joy for them...the only folks spraying lead around WERE the cops.
It’s pretty fortunate they didn’t hit innocent bystanders. Wonder what the storyline would have been then? Do you think Piers Morgan or Diane Feinswine would be on TV within minutes of the incident, screaming for the DC cops to turn in THEIR “assault rifles”?
I wonder if Dear Leader is going to make a statement, pontification that we MUST do something about “gun violence” in the streets of DC...

Thx, looks like more is coming out. So, basically, they shot an unarmed unstable freaked out woman. I read somewhere that they shot her as she tried to flee.
“Upon being discharged from the hospital, Carey was given a handicapped parking pass that she used to occupy one of only four such spots in the medical condo building where the practice is housed. The condo association finally put a note on her car asking her to take one of the other general parking spot that are plentiful at the start of the days. The reason being that a large number of elderly people with walkers and others who need handicapped parking come and go throughout the day. Carey refused.
“She wasn’t going to budge, she got all pissed off,” Weiss recalls. “She had that, ‘Who are you to tell me?’”
The association asked Weiss and his partners to speak to her.
“And that got her even more angry,” Weiss says. “She was just a headstrong, stubborn person.”
Weiss describes her a “hot-tempered. He took this to be just her temperament and says it finally led Advanced Periodontics to let her go.
“Right after she had her baby,” he says.”
