The White House session tonight was important, but perhaps an even more critical meeting for Speaker John Boehner took place earlier today in his Capitol office.
He met with a group of more than a dozen moderate Republicans, urging them to stick with him in what he acknowledged was an anxious and tense period during the government shutdown. Trust me, was the message relayed from Boehner, one lawmaker told ABC News.
No Shutdown Deal in Sight After White House Meeting A new grand bargain or the attempt at one could be in the works. Or thats one plan in Boehners strategy. The speaker and other House Republicans increasingly believe a deal on the budget impasse should be joined with talks on raising the debt ceiling. It would give his side more leverage in the negotiations. This was one topic of discussion at the White House tonight.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor hinted that some kind of compromise would ultimately happen from Republicans. Americans believe, as do we, neither side gets everything, he told ABC News earlier today.

Institute an immediate balanced budget and no increase in the Ceiling.
Here comes the Amnesty. I smell tacos!
One Department at a time, Mr. Speaker. This will break them. Do not back down.
Is Boehner under ObamaCARE? No.
Did he introduce a bill to make HIS FAMILY under the
yoke of DeathCARE? No.
HAS HE EVER SIDED WITH CONSERVATIVES? Just to trick them.
So do the GOPe RINOs believe the head House RINO?
Watch how fast Odungo care vanishes like a fart in the wind.
Cry-baby Boehner spent the past year weaseling special deals for the governing class while just giving us lip-service. I say go Fight Club on his a$$. The people who trim his hedges, fix his toilets, wash his cars, do his wife's nails, serve his food, cut his grass, etc... should get creative.
Exactly. When you have the GOP House passing a bill to continue funding for the National Institutes of Health and Democratic Senate majority leader Harry Reid refusing to put it to the floor for a vote, you know these people are getting completely unhinged.
These guys are “damned if they do and damned if they don’t” .
The last thing they want is to vote on the Senate bill.
Boehner is protecting them, he owns them.
They’ll fold when he folds.
Why not send up a bill to reinstate laws in force prior to the overturning of the Dredd Scott decision like the run away slave law. Seems to me Obama says that laws on the books should be adherred to because they don’t have to be redone. See how he likes that one.
As far as I can throw him.
I’m watching to see if he might have developed some sort of spine. Based on his past, there is no reason to trust him at all.
Erectile boner to moderates: “I’m from the government. I’m here to help. Trust me.”
Raise our taxes and kiss your asses goodbye GOP, forever.
That's the Grand Plan (I hope); once the precedent is set, the House can control every budget ...
That’s the point to press. Pass that Bill out of the House. It can be one paragraph. “All parts of the ACA apply to all members of Congress, the Senate, the Judicial, and the Executive Branches of the United States Government.
Let Reid kill that one.
I think he's changed since Sequester ... I feel good about this now ...
I hope this works but I would not trust anything this guy does—and I am being gracious with regard to insulting this RINO.
If the runaway slave law were to be re-instated, it would most likely result in Øbama owning a bunch of slaves, given that his African-American side... errr, I mean non-white side... errr, African-Arab side... were slave traders, and there are probably tens of thousands of descendants that, presuming the North American continent owners can’t be found, would have to be returned to Ø himself. Gee, it could be like ol’ times at the White House again. Moochie could increase the number of chefs from 4 or whatever to a hundred or so!
The House is supposed to be in control of every budget, anyway!
Go to Hell, tears...
