The battle over ObamaCare got so dirty Tuesday that Democrats leaked embarrassing e-mails showing how Republican House Speaker John Boehner hid his efforts to protect long-standing health-care subsidies for members of Congress and their staffers.
Boehner publicly demanded an end to those benefits on Monday, as the GOP continued its trench warfare against ObamaCare. Why dont we make sure that every American is treated just like we are? he asked.
But e-mails from February to July showed how Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid lobbied President Obama to save the subsidies setting up a meeting so secret that Boehners office tried to disguise it as a discussion on immigration.
I’m no fan of Boner, but, do consider the source.
Yeah, I’ve got to relent somewhat on your point.
The left is doing this to try to have us turn on each other rather than focus on the vital point at this moment. Boehner is despicable, we knew it already, but we have to have his back and cover our own until we gain our point, just like the ‘rats do. We can’t turn on each other now, until and unless they cave on the cital point. Don’t fall for the left’s divisive tactics.
bump
I’m willing to be reasonable. Eliminate the subsidy and increase their salaries by a commensurate amount.
BTTT
No he’s not, but right now he’s on our side of the issue. Not willingly, for sure, but he’s there and we need all hands on deck right now, not a mutiny. We can mutiny if or when they cave.
Harry Reid wants to kill children! I’ll bet the old goat eats them, too!
They must be desperate if they are willing to expose their own mole in the GOP.
In any case, since he is exposed, can we not agree to get rid of him at the soonest opportunity? If he was stupid enough to trust Reid and Obama, he is too stupid to be House Speaker.
“Are these the people we’ve entrusted our political aspirations to, who first and foremost look out for themselves as the government gets shut down while we get the shaft?”
They make deals to get into office and make deals when they’re there. Just look at their donor lists and you’ll see that they are bought. They work for corporations and bankers and you don’t really factor into the equation.
Regardless of how you move Congressional staff onto Obamacare , if you do it in a way that doesnt’t cost the employee more money, the costs to the taxpayers goes up. The federal govt health plan negotiates very good rates from insurers. Well below what the ACA premiums will cost. If you send them to Obamacare without a employee contribution some will quit. I would start looking for other employment if I took a $7000 paycut.
Well below what the ACA premiums will cost.
Tough. Did you miss the part where I said increase their salary? Let ‘em quit. Do something worth while for a change.
We need the rats to tell us that Boner is a snake?
he’s along for the ride. We can kick him out of the car later but for now, he’s needed.
Lets start that conversation by acknowledging we arent going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants... bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society. Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors. [but hes not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.
What did George Wallace say about the two parties? “there’s not a dime’s worth of difference in them”. He’s right.
