Boner is temporarily doing the right thing.
I’m waiting for the sellout, but hoping it never comes.
I’m hoping Republicans double down. So the Democrats didn’t like the earlier attempts at compromise? Fine. Pass a complete repeal of Obamacare and hold firm. Speaker Boehner has the votes for that, too (he also has enough quisling Republican votes to pass the Senate’s bloated CR).
I elected my senators and representatives to fight for smaller government—a return to constitutional governance. I’m willing to compromise, but compromise doesn’t mean the Democrats always get just slightly less than they propose. For example, I want the Department of Education to be completely eliminated, but I’m willing to compromise by cutting it into little more than an advisory council for the States.
I dare say the Republican-held House was elected to thwart President Obama’s agenda, not rubber stamp it. If we wanted Democrats or even squishy moderate Republicans in the House, we would could have easily elected them, but we did not.
Hold firm, Mr. Boehner! America really is worth saving, and that has to start somewhere. It might as well be now.
