Grady Memorial, Georgia's biggest hospital, announced today it will lose $45 million dollars a year because of Obamacare.

Doesn’t that hospital serve a majority black community? I thought I read that somewhere. If so, I’m a bit surprised and pleased to see this information get through the MSM’s iron curtain.

It serves all of Atlanta and is supported by a 1% sales tax in Fulton and Dekalb counties. It had the best trauma unit in all of Georgia, and a fine burn unit as well (not as good as Augusta though). A lot of poor people in Atlanta depend on that hospital, black and white alike. With the upcoming cuts in Medicaid (as well as Medicare) it will get to a point where doctors and hospitals reach a breaking point, which basically is what Obamacare is designed to do.
Which one? Grady or Obamacare?

According to their 2012 Annual Report, gross revenue (net of uncollectible fees for service) was $879.4 million. So $45 million is a chunk!
Grady may be better off with Medicaid expansion because it is a safety net hospital and could make up the loss with volume but hospitals generally lose money on Medicaid which is why expansion isn’t a cure-all for anything.
Were all these hospitals and companies holding off on their announcements hoping the republicans would stop it from being implemented? All of a sudden companies are very publicly ANNOUNCING they’re cutting hours and hospitals are telling about losses.
