New House GOP bill delays health law by 1 year

House Republicans on Saturday pushed the government to the edge of a partial shutdown next week, insisting that President Barack Obama’s health care law be delayed a year in defiance of White House and the Democratic-controlled Senate.

They rejected a Senate bill passed Friday that would keep the government operating another 45 days and make no changes to the health law. Instead, House Republicans prepared to pass their own version Saturday and throw the issue back to the Senate, which is not scheduled to return until Monday afternoon, 10 hours before the shutdown deadline.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has insisted the Senate would not pass a bill that alters the law. The White House has said Obama would veto such a bill. …

He won’t lose face for a delay. He will come up with the wiggle worm wording, ask congress to fix a few problems such as the medical device tax, have them spin their wheels and use any delay to advantage in the 2014 elections. Every time you think the Republicans have sunk to a new level of stupidity, they prove you wrong.

Awesome. Now the Dems can sweep the midterms next year by bragging about the great Obamacare that they created for America, which the evil Republicans made us all wait another year before being able to enjoy.

We’re just four votes away from prevailing on the cloture vote. THis thing could unravel in the senate.

I guess I should just shut up...Boehner did the right thing. Let’s support him...

Now we will see what will happen in the Senate. I find it hard to believe that we won’t get a few more Senators behind Cruz this time around.

I’m starting to smell a win for our team here.

Oh I don’t know this way it can again be pushed off until the mid term elections are over and the public will have not gotten the full taste of Obamacare.
Seems like it is win win for the Dems if you ask me. They get to delay it while blaming the republicans yet it gets implemented still just a year later in 2015.

It is almost as if Boehner and Obama cooked this plan up together.

I still say put it off for a year. It would be totally possible to extend those policies that had been cancelled. I hate to sound cruel, but if some people die because they've lost their insurance, it'll be less than would die because of Obamacare.

Real answer...private clinics on a pay-as-you-can basis, with a minimum for a visit. The catch? Maybe if you've got a dread disease, the only care you'll get is a book about nutrition, healthy lifestyle, and exercise.

The fact is it's impossible to care for everyone with the most expensive treatments. If it is necessary to meet a need, cheaper alternatives will be discovered and used.

Republicans in the US House are scum if this is true, this one year delay will allow voters to not experience the pain of Obama care before the election thus aiding democrats to win.

Re: “New House GOP bill delays health law by 1 year.”

We are so stupid.

That is EXACTLY what every Democrat wants!

Delay ObamaCare until AFTER the 2014 election.

I think I am alright with this. I was originally opposed thinking it would give the dems time enough get the bugs fixed. But if funded in October they will work on fixing the bugs anyway...it will not fall apart under its own weight. They will not let that happen

There is a good chance we can win the Senate in 2014 and hold the House. If that occurs we can then kill it dead.

I hope you’re right.
So many of these Senate campaigns of 2010 and 2012 that looked promising have wilted under the onslaught of the MSM.

In case you missed it, this delay is what the democrats wanted in the first place, it delays voters from the pain of Obamacare until after the election, so to support Bone-us is stupid.

I have Blue Cross of Arkansas. I’ve gotten mail from them saying they are cancelling my policy as January 1, 2014 to comply with the ACA. However, I can keep the policy I have in place through 2014.

Not exactly confusing, but a wild(not in a good way) situation. Our state(governor) has been really big on the ACA as opposed to our neighbors Louisiana and Texas.

But the main purpose of Obamacare is a massive expansion of the welfare state. I tend to agree with Pat Buchanan therefore. Letting the law be implemented makes it much, much harder to ever overturn. It would be like trying to roll back food stamps or free school lunches now. They'll say you want children to starve or die in the streets, and low information voters will buy it, while all the people getting the free bennies will vote the libs back in even though they "may not agree with them on everything." The most important issue will be the free stuff they're getting.

If Obamacare is funded, the subsidies starting in January will constitute a morphine drip from which America’s health-care system will not recover. If not stopped now, Obamacare is forever.

Real easy to sit at your Keyboard Kommando Station and say that.

Just a bit more difficult in the real world of state insurance commissioners and federal law.

So the longer it is before Obamacare is defunded and/or abolished, the more harm it’s going to do. Look, I’m sorry that people are going to suffer. They should take it up with the RINOs who didn’t filibuster Obamacare when it was first voted in.

It is my belief the Obamacare Law is illegal to begin with. It required the bribing of several senators to get it to pass.

If bribing legislators was enough to get a law rescinded, we'd have a lot simpler society. Why do you think they call the second in command "the whip?"

So how does delaying the bill help anyone but the Democrats to give them a clear shot at 2013?

Good for them — put the ball back in the Senate’s court and see if the Republican Senators will grow a pair in the meantime.

Harry Reid, D-Nev., has insisted the Senate would not pass a bill that alters the law

That is such a joke.

They've altered that bill for big business, and they've altered it for insider cronies, and they've altered it for members of congress and their cronies, but they won't "pass a bill that alters the law."

Reid and his and Obama's minions are despicable.
