House Republicans will vote to pass a one-year delay of Obamacare in exchange for funding the government, a plan that drastically increases the chances of a government shutdown this Tuesday.
The decision was announced by the GOP leadership in a closed meeting Saturday afternoon, according to sources present. Republicans will also pass a bill to fund U.S. troops if the government shuts down, according to GOP lawmakers. The Houses funding measure will keep the government open until mid December.
This puts Senate Democrats and the White House at loggerheads with House Republicans, a standoff that could lead to the first government shutdown since 1995.
Senate Democrats passed a bill to fund the government until Nov. 15, but kept intact Obamacare.
Weve had enough of the disunity in our party, Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) told the meeting of House Republicans Saturday afternoon. The headlines are Republicans fighting Republicans. This will unite us. This protects the people who sent us here from Obamacare.
House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said it would be the fastest whip check in history, as every member raised their hand, saying they would support the bill.
The House is expected to vote Saturday, sources say.

You could all start by refusing to use the liberal/media creation “shutdown.”
It’s not a shutdown when all essential govt services continue operation.
It’s a SLOWDOWN.
Which is why we always survive them.
The perfect rarely happens.
At least now there will be a true referendum on Obamacare if there is a delay, now we know most of what is in it,so let the people decide,if you want the monstrosity then vote to keep the democrats in control of the Senate, and dump the house republicans, otherwise vote the republicans in and let them put a sock in it until the Marxist is gone,if we live that long
Delay is VICTORY!
There are only two choices: delay or implement now.
Delaying it allows to gather more support for repealing it.
If it gets implemented, we are all toast — see this article posted by KeyLargo:
Expecting ObamaCare’s Collapse Is Living In Wonderland

I understand, Kansas58.
I don’t believe that Obama will settle for any delay, so this will certainly be interesting.
If the Democrats shut down the government (which they will if they refuse to pass the continuing resolution), this is exactly what the House should do, and not just with funding for the troops - pass one individual bill after another to fund each section of the government and let Reid and the Democrats refuse to vote on or pass them on...this is the way to get control of the narrative that it is the Democrats keeping things shut down as they'd all be up and running but for them.
You are right! Force Reid to hold the line on this with all his arrogant obnoxious talk. Manchin Has already agreed to the delay. Put the heat on Mary Quite Contrary of LA and that clown from AK and all the other incumbent lefty senators up for reelection. Time is no their friend.
No it does not. The only chance of a government shutdown is if Prince Henry of Senate refuses to deal with the House bill defunding ZeroCare, or King Zero vetoes the bill. That is the ONLY way a shutdown would happen.
Repubs, stop letting the media define your course of action!!!!!!!
Only the supply-side, public unions can strike. Any time, any day, any duration, for any grievance.
Demand-side, concerned taxpayers, are NOT EVER ALLOWED to boycott or ‘strike,’ withhold payment for specific programs or services — even if that public “service” is demonstrated to be corruptly administered, overly costly, proven fiscally insolvent (lied about) - or simply incompetently designed, and massively mismanaged.
Rat’s rules......
This will move implementation to after the election, but most people make their annual insurance elections in October of the prior year. (At least everywhere I’ve worked) Under the one year delay, millions of Americans will be broadsided by massive premium increases or losing their insurance altogether in October 2014, right before the midterms.
Bingo!
And the Narcissist will not be able to hold his temper. Obama will end up looking like a child having a tantrum.....he’s nearly there already.
Spot on and we need to send that message in emails to every voter we know. Get it out there.
This is a “compromise” that many Senate Democrats can live with. It splits their party into two camps - reasonable and Obamabots.
It’s brilliant.
You are a steely eyed missile, man.
The devil’s in the details. What do they actually mean by “delaying Obamacare for a year?” Does it mean completely stopping people from signing up for it? Does it mean stopping the formation of the exchanges? Does it mean terminating all of the so-called “facilitators” or whatever they’re called? Does it mean an end to Obamacare advocacy ads on TV and radio? Does it mean a retraction of all the thousands of letters that have gone out to the insured terminating coverage or substantially raising premiums? I bloody well doubt it. Depending on the details, the term “delaying Obamacare for a year” could mean anything. Knowing the GOP, it will be a toothless phrase to appease their base
while Obamacare in reality goes marching on. “Delaying Obamacare for a year” must mean a complete and unequivocal cessation of any activities associated with this monstrosity. Anything short of that is just another scam.
The Dems are on a tight leash. Their constituency counts on that teat being there. Here in Illinois government checks are going out later and later. Who is more likely to feel the pain of a government slowdown - the productive class or the parasite class?
As a follow up question, which party relies most on which class?
This is great news for our side. Hold the line, stick it to the Dems.
