More than a third of federal workers would be told to stay home if the government shuts down, forcing the closure of national parks from California to Maine and all the Smithsonian museums. Low-to-moderate income borrowers and first-time homebuyers seeking government-backed mortgages could face delays.
These would be just some of the effects of a government shutdown that could furlough as many as 800,000 of the nations 2.1 million federal workers. It could hit as early as Tuesday if a bitterly divided Congress fails to approve a temporary spending bill to keep the government running.

Barack Insane Obama getting ready to make this hurt as much as possible
Great. Hundreds of thousands more useless people driving the roads, walking the streets.
We can’t afford Obammy.
If they furloughed the EPA there would be an economic boom.
Yes, like the sequester. As painful as possible. But it was not so painful.
The pushback may not be coming from where he wants it to come, though . . .
Ain’t that the truth.
Lib media warming up the pain of the common man stories... Stories which have been ignored for the past 5 years, relative to gas prices, Obamacare, etc. But now that they assume it will be blamed all on the Repubs here come the sob stories.
If you live near a Disneyland/six flags....it’s going to be packed next week when all of the government folks get a couple of free vacation days.
Sequester AF1.
Shut it down! Good!
This will be the SEQUESTER part II.
If y’all recall president Zero tried to make life as much of a nuisance as possible by unnecessary shutting down of many services.
Zero will do the same again. He will make you feel the pain. If my social security check does not arrive on time, so be it. It is a sacrifice worth doing for the younger generations who will be left with the unbearable debt burden.
***NASA is still working on shutdown plans, but the agency doesn’t have a launch scheduled until Nov. 6, spokesman Bob Jacobs said. Nearly all but a few hundred of the space agency’s 18,000 employees would be furloughed under a contingency plan outlined in 2011.***
I see. And how many of those ‘few hundred’ are only there for the purpose of slime outreach I wonder.
Shut it down!
Obamacare will hurt worse.
I'm all in for a government shutdown.
I wish I could grow balls in my garden and send them to boehner....
Get a clue.
Many government employees who don’t believe in welfare have already given up most of their utilities and have maxed out their credit from the sequester.
We’re now considering selling the remainder of our furniture and trashing all non-essentials to live out of our cars.
BTW, the worthless government employees are the ones driving new cars and trucks, have advanced one another into higher paying positions and when the RIFs come, they won’t be the ones laid off nor feeling the effects, but the honest ones will be thrown out.
It might be a good thing for the USA to have people realize and or suffer to see how much of their lives have been given or taken over by government. Some of the established bloated government just might be exposed. There might even be a surge of opposition to the fat cat self serving so called ‘public servants’ staffs and elected and appointed becoming millionaires by public salaries. I can do without government services for a few days if such cuts my tax payments.
Ok, here we go with the scare tactics. Again.
Useful idiots !
My wife works for my state and has for over 25 years. She has already been put on notice that all state employees in positions that are funded with federal grants will likely be placed on furlough because of the shutdown. Her present position is federally funded.
I am retired and have been for 11 years, but we can take this hit for awhile. We plan to have fun with it. We’re going to use the time to repaint every room in the house. She likes painting and I like picking out new colors for each room.
Obama plans to make any resistance to his ‘orders’ hurt us all as much as possible. Screw him.
