Senator Says Politics Have Reached Civil War Levels
National Journal ^ | September 27, 2013 | Matt Berman

Sen. Tom Harkin to Congress: "We are at one of the most dangerous points in our history."

As the clock ticks down toward a possible government shutdown, Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, isn't holding back.

On the Senate floor before 10 a.m. Friday, the senator gave a speech describing how American politics have reached the level at which "a small group of willful men and women who have a certain ideology"—read: the tea party and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas—have been able to take over the congressional budget debate in the last week. "Since they can't get their way," Harkin said, "they're going to create this confusion and discourse and hope that the public will be so mixed up in who is to blame for this, that they'll blame both sides."

the most extreme tea-party wing" of his party,

Being opposed to the agenda of socialism and statism, and being in favor of limited government and capitalism is not extremism or fanaticism. It is both rational and objective because it is compatible with and mandated by the dictates of reason, the demands of reality, and the nature of man and the requirements for life proper to a rational being.

One of the main ending conclusions of a rational objective ethics is that initiation of force is a vice, and one of the beginning premises of a rational objective politics is that protection and preservation of natural rights and freedom is a virtue and one of the main legitimate functions of government. Any agenda that is compatible with both of these conclusions and premises is both rational and objectively good and so, cannot be extreme.

The Democrats are the slave holders. They seek to enslave everyone to an all powerful state. Conservatives, on the other hand, are the abolitionists. We want the right to live free from the strong hand of the federal government. We want the right to make our own decisions, even if some people think they can make better decisions for us.

So I agree we are on the cusp of a Civil War.

Exactly!

The Party who has pledged to fundamental transform America is now upset that there are people who resist their transformation! Moreover, many of us know that the corrupt MSM continue to put their thumb on the electoral scale in favor of Democrats resulting in unfair, unjust electoral outcomes. So, you can cast blame all you want, the responsibility for another Revolutionary War rests with your corrupt Party.

The probable outcome, in that instance, would be a balkanization of that territory once known as “the United States of America”

This can end amicably or badly, it is the call of the liberals now. Looking at an electoral map of the overall territory, the parts divided into “blue” and “red” shows a marked difference - the “red” portion is nearly contiguous, and the “blue” areas are fragmented, and cover far less total area.

The “red” country thus formed, would then be free to accept the words and legal precedents that are embodied in the Declaration of Independence, the original Constitution, the Bill of rights, and the remainder of the amendments with the exception of the 16th, 17th, 18th and its paired repeal, the 21st.

The number of small “blue” republics thus formed, may go ahead and set up whatever cockamamie social experiment governments they want.

The second order of business would be to set up a strictly enforced border between the “red” country, and each of these scattered little “blue” republics. Those who are dissatisfied with the region in which they find themselves at odds with the governing authority, are free to migrate to the region more to their preference, once it has been established they are sincere in their desire to relocate, and they swear allegiance to the ideals and aspirations of the prospective region to which they wish to emigrate.

These new divisions may or may not follow existing state boundaries, but they would be divided on the basis of Congressional districts, and the will of the people within that particular district to choose either the “red” designation or the “blue” designation.

We seek a restoration, not a revolution.

It is the Marxist scum who are in the middle of the revolution... against the People of the United States and our Constitution!

Frankly, I don’t care if the Democrats have a voting majority. I mean, seriously, we aren’t a democracy. The majority has no moral or legal right to do whatever it damn well pleases. We have rules. We fought a revolution and created this contract called the US Constitution that was meant to protect minorities from the depredations of political majorities.

Well, they’ve warped the US Constitution beyond all possible recognition. Government nowadays can apparently do whatever it wants EXCEPT pass laws against sodomy or restrict abortion.

Democrats use the law of the land to seize powers that do not legitimately and morally belong to them. Who are they trying to kid? They make the laws up as they go and only obey them when it serves their purposes, and then they just expect everyone else to go along with that, because “we voted, and it’s the law of the land.” BS!

Correct.... We are in REVOLUTION (not shooting yet but revolution nun the less). Revolution is overthrow of oppression not succession, though it may come to that as well.
