I live in Mississippi. I just called my Senators. Senator Wicker's aid said the usual song and dance about him being opposed to Obamacare and that all the GOP Senators being opposed. I told him that it was a joke, take John McCain for example. I told him that we were watching how he not only voted, but how he conducted himself.

When I got Senator Cochran's office I urged him to vote No on cloture. She asked me which one and proceeded to say that there were 6 cloture votes and all the Senate voted yes on the first one yesterday. She said that Senator was very experienced about how to vote so don't worry about it! Does anyone have any info as to what the 6 cloture votes are? Please educate all of us!

Everyone should realize that the political Elitists in DC don’t give a damn about We The People. They’re out for themselves to satisfy their quest for power. They’re, IMO, self-serving debris.

I'm not sure of the enumeration of the six but it is the last one that is the critical one. That is the one that will end debate and send the amended bill to a final vote.

Capitol switchboard: (202) 224-3121...Ask for any Senator, doesn’t have to be your Senator. Ask for Kay Hagan from North Carolina for instance. Jusy say, “I am from Raleigh and I blah blah blah” She is up for re-election and might be influenceable.

“When I got Senator Cochran’s office I urged him to vote No on cloture. She asked me which one...”

The correct answer to that is: ALL OF THEM! Any vote that helps implement Obamadoesn’tcare, vote no!

There were no cloture votes yesterday. The vote yesterday was on the motion to proceed (to debate). This basically brings the bill to the floor (from either a committee or the House).

From the motion to proceed comes the debate. But there will be no debate because Harry Reid has made it a habit to file for cloture (an end to the debate) at the same time he files a bill. And this mandates that there be at least an additional 30 hours of debate and Reid can call for an end of the debate any time after that, which in reality, is immiediately after that.

Once debate has been ended (cloture), senators can amend the bill, but Reid will fill the “amendment tree” allowing only his amendment to strike, which will strip the defunding language. That amendment will require only a majority so they will pass that amenement, then the bill.

So to simplify, motion to proceed to debate, then the debate, but debate can be cut off by cloture, thirty hours must intervene between filing cloture and the actual cloture vote, end of debate, amendments, passage of the bill.

Go to dontfundit.com, they will list the No votes on Cloture but I know that my own dear GOP Senator, Pat Roberts, from KS voted NO! I believe, however, that my other not so dear newly elected Senator, Jerry Moran (moron now) voted “with the leadership.........” Barbara Streisand

We must oppose cloture on H.J. Res 59, so that Harry Reid and Senate Democrats cannot sneak in funding for Obamacare. We need you to call your Senators right now: tell them to oppose cloture on H.J. Res 59 and remind them that a vote for cloture IS a for funding Obamacare.

Call your Dem Senators and ask them to support a one year delay because the “roll out” and the rules are so confusing.
If you’re ‘confused’ they’ll know you are a Dem voter!

If they ask Harry for a delaying amendment -they won’t make any vote Harry doesn’t approve of- it will weaken Harry and show lack of support for Obamacare in his caucus.

The downside is Harry might accede to it and defunding would be stopped in it’s tracks, but they’re not that smart or brave. But a year’s delay is the House fallback position and if it’s already in hand they can ask for some other oncession.

Anyway, at least they’ll listen and get scared that the media won’t be able to protect them from the roll out problems.

One of those six clotures that shuts off debate to the overall funding bill.

Where then Reid will use a procedure called the “motion to strike” to strip out the defunding language that only needs 51 votes after cloture.

MAKE DC LISTEN: TELL YOUR SENATORS TO OPPOSE CLOTURE ON H.J. RES 59

Oppose cloture on H. J. Res. 59, so that Harry Reid and Senate Democrats cannot sneak in funding for Obamacare.

Call your Senators right now: tell them to oppose cloture on H.J. Res 59 and remind them that a vote for cloture IS a for funding Obamacare.

AND REMIND THEM YOU ARE WATCHING...

WI Ron Johnson R (202) 224-5323

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Here are your Cribbies for talking to others (TTO)

In simple terms:  If you vote FOR cloture, Reid can't insert an amendment to fund obamacare.  The bill goes to the House, keeps the defund part.  Got that?  (because I really don't)

Tell your senators to vote NO on cloture.

Cruz said Reid wants to use "brute political power to force Obamacare funding through with just Democrats" like he passed Obamacare three  years ago.

"If the majority is going to run the minority over with a train, the minority has the ability to stop them," Cruz said.

"A vote for cloture is a vote for Obamacare."

Cruz insisted that since it takes 60 votes to get cloture to stop Reid from inserting an amendment to fund Obamacare, Republicans can unite to deny "cloture when the Majority Leader is abusing power." That, Cruz said, would be supporting House Republicans and the House bill because a cloture vote would allow Reid to ultimately change the House's bill by adding Obamacare funding to it.

A VOTE FOR CLOSURE IS A VOTE FOR FUNDING OBAMACARE. .. starting today you have a year to engineer ways to make sure people understand this... WITH EMPHASIS ON THE ACUTE HERE AND NOW.

"If Senate Republicans stand together, we can stop Harry Reid from doing this," Cruz said.  Cruz also said if Reid succeeds in adding Obamacare funding because other Senate Republicans vote for cloture, the House has to again lead and stay strong to defund Obamacare since the House is the only body where Republicans have a majority. If that happens, Cruz said Senate Democrats in red states--like Sens. Mark Pryor (D-AK) and Mary Landrieu (D-LA)--can then be targeted to defund the bill that is harming Americans, especially working class Americans who are losing health insurance and seeing their premiums rise.
