TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) A report out Wednesday from the federal government finds that health insurance prices on New Jerseys exchange will be among the most expensive in the country for those without subsidies.
The report from the federal Department of Health and Human Services comes less than a week before the launch of the state health exchanges that are a key element of President Barack Obamas health insurance overhaul. The idea is that the exchange offers otherwise uninsured people a way to get their own insurance, in many cases with a federal subsidies.
SNIP
The federal analysis out Wednesday finds that for a 27-year-old with low-level catastrophic insurance, the monthly premium would be $129. For a family of four with a better plan, it would be $943.
Both figures are well above the national averages and among the most expensive in the country. But federal subsidies based on income would reduce prices for many people.

It doesn’t seem fair that a federally mandated program doesn’t cost the same for everyone. Could that be a lawsuit for equal protection or something like that?
Why would that be a factor? The US has been running trillion dollar plus deficits for years now. Baraqqi/Bernanke minibucks for all!
Free college in Canada and many European countries too.
Good try, but nope. Remember that Chief Justice Roberts ruled that Obamacare is a tax. And tax rates can be applied progressively (unequally).
As an aside, who would have thought five years ago that Roberts would be so destructive to personal liberty? Now you have to pay a tax just for being you.
Take our military out of the picture, and they would have been getting their free education as imposed by Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union.
what insurance company
is most anti-Republican?
Well golly gee willikers and heck, how did that happen? I thought Christie and Obummer were ‘buds’ .... Christie couldn’t work out an exemption deal for his peeps? Obummer didn’t offer a deal to his loyal serf? I don’t understand ..... /s/
By Jove you’ve got it
“At least the Euros get 6 weeks vacation time, massive parental leave, insane amounts of sick time, etc.”
Don’t forget overtime is illegal in some countries as well (while unpaid overtime is the norm here). This country was in trouble when northern Europeans stopped coming here; it signaled we’d lost our mojo...
bump
I think it won't be very long before welfare recipients find a portion of their check deducted for Obamacare.
Won't THAT be fun?
“Who pays for the subsidies. Oh, Whitie, I thought so.”
Don’t count on it (at least for the younger ones). It is practically illegal to hire a white guy, even harder to promote him, so they’ve basically just kicked back and are living the life of our urban livestock. They have nothing to even pay a fine with.
What is the income cap? And doesn’t everyone have to pay something? There is no completely free ride, is there? Which brings up the question “Does an unemployed person on welfare have to pay a fine?”
Medicaid is not going away because of Obamacare.
No need to make this a “black and white” issue. Everybody’s going to get it in the neck.
Tough Sh_t! New Jersey voted FOR ObamaCare!
Says Silver plan for me and hubby...$1197 a month.
Definitely affordable! Nice to know we are rich.
We are already paying $1k a month.
