With new health insurance markets launching next week, the Obama administration is unveiling premiums and plan choices for 36 states where the federal government is taking the lead to cover uninsured residents.
Before tax credits that work like an upfront discount for most consumers, sticker-price premiums for a mid-range benchmark plan will average $328 a month nationally for an individual, comparable to payments for a new car.
The overview of premiums and plan choices, released Wednesday by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, comes as the White House swings into full campaign mode to promote the benefits of the Affordable Care Act to a skeptical public. Congressional Republicans, meanwhile, refuse to abandon their quest to derail Obamacare and flirt with a government shutdown to force the issue.

You may wat to consult a ACA Exchange calculator. Premium costs are not included as out of pocket costs according to this..

I certainly am not. Most hospital stays are thousands of dollars. Even many out patient surgeries cost thousands. 20% of $50,000 is $10k. Fifty K don’t get you a whole lot of top flight medical care. At least not the kind that you really need. Skinned knees and free birth control is easy. Free gal bladder surgery, cancer treatment, and arthroscopic surgeries are a little more difficult.
I have about $4,000,000 worth of medical bills I would be happy to show you that my family has incurred in just the past five years. That is what the insurance company adjusted and paid. The pre-adjusted costs where over $10 Million.
MANY, MANY families will flirt with an out of pocket max every year, Particularly if you have children that play sports. One sick child, or family member with a chronic illness will rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in billable medical expenses.
This is Shit insurance, particularly for the premium. Wait until all the people who wanted this and thought it would be free find out that it costs more than a new car. If you actually need it for anything important it will cost you as much as most Obama voters spend on their mobile home.
BTW I hold an insurance license. I also have had the great fortune to pay out plenty of deductibles and co-pays. We usually hit our out of pocket by February 1st. That is presently $5,000. But we haven’t gotten the new rates yet.
Easy, it get padded to their EITC. Payday is here again
so $600 a month instead of $1300...where does that money come from STEVE68 (automated profile)?
why not just 330?
why the 8?
They liken that $328 to a payment for a new car.....it has been 20-30 years since I EVER had a car payment that low.
Most of mine have been in the 600-700/month range.
They're still going to blame the employer, aka "the man".........and the MSM, unwilling to admit that they were involved in this fraud, will continue to blame the GOP.
Though the insurance exchange is supposed to bring down costs for people without job-sponsored coverage, it wont help Hattey and an estimated 226,525 other uninsured Missourians. They make too little to qualify for government subsidies.
Yes, too little.
Obamacare is supposedly “insurance”. Do people understand that insurance does not pay all the bill for care?
Not only are you forced to pay for Obamacare, you will also pay for the portion of you bill that Obamacare does not pay.
Remember, Obamacare has the ability to get into your bank account.
You are incorrect. Medical bllls are instantly and deeply discounted for uninsured clients.
sticker-price premiums for a mid-range benchmark plan will average $328 a month nationally for an individual,
But didn’t Sebelius and Obama say just the other day that premiums were gonna be about $100 a mnth? The same as a cell phone bill?
You mean they lie?!
LOL Ask the People interviewed for the recent Time Magazine article who saw $15,000 insurance negotiated charges rise to $100,000 for the uninsured from the hospital paymaster. Those who had the help of a patient advocate could sometimes negotiate them partly back down.
I didn't say they were. In fact, I implied they were not LOL.
I am very familiar with the CA and WA exchange calculators.
Get that dyslexia treated, Willy. I think even the bronze plan covers that.
So a family of four making $50K gets its health care essentially free. We now have socialized medicine for all but the suckers in midlife who actually got an education and worked their way into decent-paying jobs.
