Harry Reid said Tuesday that despite an expected talk-a-thon by Sen. Ted Cruz and his allies in the fight to defund Obamacare, that does not mean the GOP is succeeding in filibustering.
Usually when Mr. Reid has to file "cloture," a Senate parliamentary procedure to force an end to a debate, he is eager to accuse the GOP of filibustering. But this week he is trying to throw cold water on Mr. Cruz's public relations strategy, which has helped boost the Texas Republican's prominence.
"I want to disabuse everyone. There will be no filibuster today," Mr. Reid said as he opened the Senate floor action Tuesday.

Senate Majority Harry Reid, D-Nev., told reporters that Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who began speaking without interruption on the Senate floor Tuesday in opposition to funding Obamacare, isn't engaged in a real filibuster.
"There's no filibuster going on now," Reid said Tuesday. "People can come and talk, but they can't do anything to change when we vote." The vote is scheduled for Wednesday.
Cruz took the floor today, explaining that he "intended to speak out in defense of defunding Obamacare until I can no longer stand."

Well, there are 62 Demonrats and RINOs in the Senate. Just vote cloture on them every primary season. If McCain and Graham weren't Senators, they might get less airtime.
