"Now in Texas you have Republican Primary for Governor. And there's a fellow running in the Republican Primary that I've known since I was - how old? - 22 years old. His name is Tom Pauken. He's a Reaganite. He was a long-time Reaganite. Before Reagan he was a Goldwater guy. As solid as they come. A good friend of mine. And Tom Pauken would make an OUTSTANDING Governor of Texas. So I want to wholeheartedly tell my friends all over the state of Texas if you get a chance give Tom a very careful look. You won't be disappointed."

I'd say this is as close to an endorsement as they come. At the very least, its an excellent compliment from Levin. This might change the balance of the race slightly, since Abbott is so overwhelmingly the favorite. Who's next? Palin? Cruz?

Welcome to FR.

A lot of the Texas Freepers have decided to do whatever it takes to keep Pauken from winning.

His son posts here as a rabid anti-Abbot poster.

Pauken's history with the GOP here in Texas, how his son is a paid propagandist for the Chineese government, etc.. etc...

Pauken's son has pretty well poisoned the well here at FR for Pauken.

Some candidates have it easy. Attorney General Greg Abbott turned out to be a prodigious fundraiser. His strength can be measured by the size of his campaign bank balance. It’s enough to persuade most politicians to skip the Republican primary for governor, to shop elsewhere.

Tom Pauken, the former state Republican Party chairman, is challenging Abbott and acting as the poster boy for the campaign conundrum: It is not easy to get people to invest in a candidate whose opponent already has more than $20 million. Pauken has to exploit any philosophical differences or focus on characteristics in Abbott to offset the financial disadvantage. It’s possible, but it’s a slog.

How much debt did the Texas party get into under his chairmanship?

“Some candidates have it easy. Attorney General Greg Abbott turned out to be a prodigious fundraiser.”

Why do Texas Republicans/conservatives give money to Abbott? Texas conservatives donate to Greg Abbott because he is a conservative and has done a great job for Texas which includes keeping Hussein and Holder from screwing with Texas. Every time they come after Texas, he files a suit against them. He has to be most hated by Holder/Hussein and that alone is worth major donations to Abbott.

Thanks for the ping.

Interesting that Levin with heartily endorse a guy that most of us Texans have never heard of. Could Levin be completely clueless about the good job Greg Abbott has done for Texas as AG? Is he aware that he’s the favorite in the race?

“I'd say this is as close to an endorsement as they come.”

You joined this April - perhaps your reason for joining was to promote Pauken. What you have posted here is a Pauken ad.

Pauken would be a disaster as governor.

1. He lost every office for which he ran - ran for US representative and lost. Ran for attorney general before and lost.

2. He was state chairman of the Republican Party and was so bad, the Republican governor would not take his calls. This is a true fact because he told my husband, county chair of our party, and me, that fact.

3. He divided the Republican Party and got the state party in debt. When he was reelected as state chair, he got into worse trouble with the party, the money facts came out, and he quit.

4. Susan Weddington was elected after Pauken quit and she got the Party out of debt and united the party.

Pauken is a demonstrated loser over and over and Abbott, even in his wheelchair, is a giant standing up for Texas against the tyrants in Washington. Right now, the national Democrat Party wants Texas - Abbott will never let them get it.

Abbott hired Ted Cruz to be his partner against the Washington Democrat mob. Together, they kept Texas for conservative Texans. Why did Abbott choose Cruz for his main man to, along with him, represent us in cases before the US Supreme Court - because he and Cruz are of the same pattern. They don't give up.

A tree fell on Abbott when he was in college and he never walked again. Did he give up? No, he kept his life going and has been a terrific attorney general and will make a no nonsense conservative governor. And, you have him to thank for giving Ted Cruz a chance to show his expertise so we now have Senator Ted Cruz.

ATTORNEY GENERAL GREG ABBOTT FOR GOVERNOR. AG COMMISSIONER TODD STAPLES FOR LT. GOVERNOR - A WINNING CONSERVATIVE TEAM FOR TEXAS.

Yes, I joined in April because I’m psychic and knew he was going to start a campaign in June. Check my post history.

A. I didn’t advertise Pauken. It was a Dallas Morning News article. You can blame them for the name drop.

B. It was a legitimate question for someone who claims to be the anti-Obama administration. Why is Abbott joining forces with Holder? No one has ever told me.

Says the Attorney General of Texas and since August. Read the news. The merger is a big deal here in Texas since American Airlines is headquartered here.

You obviously didn’t read the Dallas Morning News article lol

“Challenging the merger of American Airlines and US Airways” does not equate to “joining forces with Holder”.
