The FBI is investigating claims that up to five of the terrorists who killed 68 people in a despicable attack on an upmarket Kenyan shopping mall are Americans, as the Kenyan military reported that it had rescued hostages and secured 'most parts' of the center following the two day standoff.
Sources close to terror group Al Shabaab told CNN on Sunday that nine extremists had been named on their Twitter account along with their nationalities and allegedly included U.S. citizens. The account has now been suspended by the site.
And just before sundown Kenya Defence Forces posted on its Twitter account that 'most of the hostages hostages have been rescued' and that security forces had taken control of 'most parts of the building' - however, the operation is still continuing and only a small number remained under the control of the militants.
The dramatic assault, which began shortly before sundown, came as two helicopters circled the Westgate mall, with one skimming very close to the roof.
They added that four military personnel were injured in the operation and officials attached to the defense forces did not elaborate how the hostages were freed or if the extremists were in custody.
Some gunmen are reported to be currently holed up in a supermarket in the shopping mall complex.
The revelation that Americans could be involved in the terror atrocity came after a large explosion today rocked the upmarket mall where as many as 15 Islamic extremists had been holding the hostages a day after attacking it, killing at least 68 and injuring at least 175 people - including five Americans.

Apparently kids from the States go to Somali camps for training. Some of these kids took part in the mall shootup. 68 dead!
They need to do what Nigeria has done and blow these vermin to kingdom come, Nigeria has been fairly quiet in recent months since the big crackdown this Spring.

In another post, it was described that three of the terrorists were US citizens of Somali “decent.” As I recall, one was from Minnesota.
I fully expect a speech by the Muzzie in Chief tomorrow telling us that these people were just influenced by bad elements, and that there is a new executive order to not investigate these communities because it will violate their civil rights to shoot up malls in the USA.
Seriously though, does anyone expect any kind of investigation into the communities where these scumbags came from? I reckon zero chance.
Why go all the way to Soetoro's home town? It would be easier and cheaper in an American city with more impact and free publicity.
They are probably Somalians who were allowed into the country for humanitarian reasons after passing through the careful screening process to keep terrorists out of the country./sarc

More likely, it is Somali immigrants who grew up in Minnesota but were raised on “entitlements” and the entitlement attitude that is the birthright of Muslim men.

I'm not defending the decision to put everyone in one aircraft. That was stupid. I would not be surprised to learn that whomever made that call also had a role in leaking the details of the mission beforehand. IOW, they were "set up".
However, the "slow moving transport helicopter", the Chinook, has a Cruise Speed of 130kts while the Blackhawk is listed at 150kt Cruise Speed. The US "attack" helos do not carry troops. The maximum speed for the Chinook and for the Blackhawk are both listed at 170 kts.
While the Chinook is obviously a larger target, differences in the speeds are meaningless when compared to RPG, MANPAD or AAA fire velocities.
BTW, CH-53D pilots used to "dogfight" with their next door neighbor Cobras. The Cobras had a higher VNE and could go faster in a dive, but not straight and level, in a climb or at altitude. Apaches are faster, though.
