A transgender student at Marina High School in Huntington Beach made history Friday evening by becoming the schools Homecoming Queen.
Cassidy Lynn Campbell, who was among five finalists, was selected for the coveted title. The announcement was made during halftime of Friday nights game.
Earlier in the day, students reportedly erupted in cheers when it was announced that Campbell was among the finalists.
I think its really awesome cause a lot of people wouldnt be able to do what she does. I mean I would be so scared and shes accepting everything that everyone is saying. Shes taking it all in in a good way, Janet Tran, a student, told CBS2′s Joy Benedict.
After capturing the crown, Campbell told KCAL9′s Cristy Fajardo that she finally feels accepted after years of feeling that she didnt fit in.

Makes you wonder. Do they ever consider maybe s/he was voted to make fun of her?
Not a big surprise. This is one way HS students get to tell society that they are hip, progressive, know better and get recognition and as you can see, it worked. Kinda like the people walking around with a snake on their shoulders basically saying: “Hey, look and talk to me. I’m with the “IN CROWD”, when in all eventuality, their doing just the opposite. Pay them some attention and you’ve fallen into their wants/needs mindset and doing something as stupid as this makes you part of them because they snagged you. Simply ignore them and eventually they will go away and mature, hopefully.
When those people say Queen what they really mean is King..
And when they say Home-coming what they really mean is Groin-centered...
So, let’s see if I have this correct. Two people who have male genitals are the homecoming royalty? Isn’t this discrimination against the females?
Next year (to be fair) they will have to insist that two females, one dressed as a guy, are the royalty. It is only fair, and everyone wants to be fair, right?????
And BTW...I was *really* little at the time.I grew up to be all man (if ya catch my drift).
I recently retired from 20 years in a private high school, so I know a few things. Kids, as you will recall, absolutely love to put people on. A vote like that could very well be a prank, as I saw this over the years.
I think a lot of these meaningless title elections in high school end up as a big joke. People voted for a boy out of the Beevis and Butthead-brand humor.
The dude snatched the victory from the girls. Sick puppies.
I think the kids voted for “it” so they could mock and laugh at the stupid, deluded teachers and administrators who praise the drag queen and pretend everything is normal.
And the moron educrats fall for it.
Probably a coping mechanism by the students, like prisoners messing with the guards any way they can.
You’re right. This isn’t a title of honor, in this case. It is an opportunity for derision.
Hooray for that!
They are already pushing co-ed showers and bathrooms at some schools.

I think so too.
