A gunman with a military-grade assault rifle opened fire on a pickup basketball game in the Back of the Yards neighborhood late Thursday, injuring 13 people and dragging the city back into the international spotlight for its violent crime problem.
At least 16 bullets were fired into Cornell Square Park around 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, wounding a 3-year-old boy and a dozen other people. All are expected to survive, many with wounds to their arms and legs.
Shell casings found around the blood-soaked basketball courts were 7.62 mm rounds, which are traditionally used in AK-47 assault rifles and rarely found in gang attacks on Chicagos South Side. Though gun violence has long plagued the citys impoverished neighborhoods, offenders almost never use military-style weapons.

It's a miracle there has been no fatality, Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said at a news conference this morning. Illegal guns, illegal guns, illegal guns drive violence....
So if we legalize them that would end the violence? Got it.

I guess if the guns were legal, the po po genius figures it would make it easier for the gang bangers to practice their shooting skils. Surprisingly, having a high score on Grand Theft Auto does not make you a good shooter.

Gun free zones lead to shootings and deaths. The only people who dont see that are the people who want more gun free zones.
Purely coincidentallyunless not the least bit coincidentallythose happen to be the people at the apex of the social, economic, and political pyramid. Are they afraid, do you suppose?

7.62 Nato (.308 win)??? 7.62 X 39 Commie bloc AK 47/SKS??? 7.62 X 54R Nagant/Dragunov???
Tokarev & Nagant pistol owners are saddened at being left off the suspect list.
To: Flintlock
Since they only have the bullet(s), I kinda doubt they know if it was fired from a firearm chambered for any of the cartridges you mentioned. I suspect at 7.62X39.
but it is fun to watch the speculation. Especially speculation coming from uninformed “journalist”.

I’d be willing to bet that the suspect weapon came to Sh*tcago via Eric Holder’s Fast and Furious “arm a criminal” program.

It occurred to me that if an al-Qaeda cell devised a terrorist attack in the U.S. that involved spraying a playground full of families with gunfire in an attempt to kill as many people as possible, they couldn’t do it in Chicago because nobody would ever believe it was carried out by terrorists.

In the Nixon era there were big gangs. They placed the leaders in prison. That resulted in 8,000 sets with no control. The Drug Cartel supplies snorting heroin. In response to this Rahm cuts the drug gang task force. The Cartel raises the price of heroin. The sets start moving inti larger area bu shooting the set in that area. The cartel the Zero armed, raises its prices. Some A hole writes about shell casing's.

As long as Chicago politicians can do gun control, they can avoid doing crime control.

The eevil AK or SKS did it, not the innocent Trayvon who just happened to be holding it.
To: equaviator
The policeman interviewed blamed it on the ILLEGAL SALE OF GUNS. Like the guns acted on their own. No mention of THUG PUNK BAD PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE AT ALL. It was the gun.
