Having attained power in late 1917 on a raft of promises land to Russia's peasants, bread to Russia's starving cities and peace to Russia's World War I-weary soldiers V.I. Lenin was able to dispense with every one of them by advancing civil war from 1918 to 1921 to justify his acts by crisis.
In place of promises of liberty and rights, Lenin gave Russians propaganda, empowering the Bolsheviks to govern through knoutish messages, if not the barrel of the gun. In so doing, he sought to undermine Russia's weak democracy and to transform society fundamentally.
"The Russian Revolution was permeated with propaganda of a forceful and brutal kind," wrote historian Dmitri Volkogonov in his 1995 "Lenin: Life and Legacy," based on materials briefly available from the Soviet archives.
The propaganda was used not so much to win people over with ideas but by bludgeoning them with coercion, repression and making examples. "The type of propaganda that the Bolsheviks carried out is absolutely central to our understanding of the regime they created," wrote Peter Kenez in "The Birth of the Propaganda State: Soviet Methods of Mass Mobilization, 1917-1929."
A number of patterns emerged:
1. Ends Justify The Means
The broken promises that Lenin's regime started delivered just the opposite. He guaranteed a free press, but in his first two days of communist rule he halted it, ordering opposition newspapers shut down and censorship re-instituted. He called it temporary, but it wasn't.....

I see him on TV most everyday!
How can you possibly combat that? It seems as if Obama and the Dems will always win the messaging especially since the media is largely in their back pocket.
Sounds like The Artist Formerly Known As Soetoro.
The Fresh Prince of Bill Ayres picked up a few things from his mentor...who probably wrote the book. Reading back over Ayres' comments in the days of the Weathermen and the SDS, he was a student of Lennist philosophy whether he knew it or not.
Those who follow can be derided by whatever means, usually something like being called "conspiracy theorists" (even if there really is a conspiracy), because the first story is commonly accepted by the sheeple, especially if it is coming at them from every direction.

It’s soon to be over for the Left. Ubiquitous media is its albatross. Ubiquitous media is here to stay.
Reads like Obama’s playbook.
“I won” is what it means. It means that you absolutize your victory even if it really was meant as a bipartisan compromise. It’s like the moment you give or concede a bit of credit to your interlocutor, it gives him full authority as if you never had a case, and it also is means to refuse to share or acknowledge those who helped you there.
For instance Oprah was helped by white people to fame but she turned around against those same people who helped her according to a black preacher.
Obama PROMISED that he was going to”Fundamentally Change This Country”!He also promised that he would put the coal-industry out of business with onerous carbon-emmissions taxes!!These are TWO PROMISES HE HAS KEPT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Click through and see. The author explains it far better than I could.
Hmmmm....actually I was thinking more about these innocuous STAND DOWN ORDERS... and then the personnel involved never do get questioned? And actually, if #5 is true about our current President's Regime, they damn well understand the consequences of talking.
This is why the Left and the media are so quick to criticize and demonize folks like the Koch brothers. IF the brothers buy a television network or get a leg into media; the Left knows their monopoly of political thought in propaganda gets taken away. Hence the demonizing. Remember when Rush Limbaugh was going to co-own the St Louis Rams? Same reaction.
Still, we need to do so! GET A CONSERVATIVE TELEVISION NETWORK! I wish I was a billionaire.
Bwhahahaha! Love it!
I must confess I read it on a thread here, and stole it. If I could recall, I would gladly give attribution so the original author could get the kudos they so richly deserve.
Nice discernment there in #15. They’re good at what they do.
Holy crap.
Odumbo must’ve been part of those experiments, where they put headphones on you and play brainwashing tapes that you’re supposed to absorb while you sleep.
That, or he’s just a damn commie.
This is why Beck is starting his own network. He understands its importance, and also the will of the communists to take it down by any means. This is why, right now, his network is funded largely by subscription. He doesn't want to be subjected to boycotts.
This should tell us something about boycotting the LSM. We really need to do it.
