Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) demanded that Republican House and Senate leaders denounce an anti-ObamaCare ad created by a right-wing group.
Murray called the ad deplorable and sexist.
This ad represents right-wing scare tactics at the most deplorable and sexist level and Republican leaders in the House and Senate should immediately repudiate these tactics and those who stoop to use them, Murray said Friday. Not doing so would represent a tacit endorsement of continued lies that are expressly aimed at intimidating women in their most private moments.
Generation Opportunity, a conservative group funded by the Koch brothers, paid for the ad, titled The Exam Creepy Uncle Sam, which is part of their Opt-Out campaign. The ad shows a young woman going to a doctor for her annual physical exam. She tells the doctor she is enrolled in an ObamaCare health exchange and the doctor is replaced by Creepy Uncle Sam holding forceps.
This ad shows the utter disregard the right-wing continues to have for women, their privacy, and their ability to make decisions about their own bodies, Murray said. You would think that over the past few years, as conservatives have continually tried to unsuccessfully redefine rape and block VAWA protections for millions of at-risk women, that they would have learned. However, this ad is a reminder that Republicans are ready and willing to employ any means necessary to lie and frighten young women, all for political gain.
Some conservative Republican Senate candidates got in trouble during the last election cycle for saying abortions should be banned even in the case of rape and incest.
The Opt-Out ad also sparked criticism from liberal pro-abortion rights organizations.
It is hard to tell if this is real or if its a Saturday Night Live parody about the hypocrisy of extremists who want to be in every exam room in America but dont want to expand access to quality health care, said Eric Ferrero of Planned Parenthood.
Grandma over the cliff anybody? I prefer Obama over the cliff.
OK, level it out. The next ad should be a guy in an Obama mask giving a guy a prostate exam.
That’s a good ad.
There’s also a male ad. See both at http://countrystore.blogspot.com/2013/09/yet-another-reason-to-say-no-to.html
That IS really bad
Do they really thing the bureaucracy is always going to genuflect at the altar of “women’s reproductive rights”? That will keep up only until the next idol comes along, then sorry women you are now under the bus! It took maybe 5 seconds to imagine a scenario where due to constant budget crunch they insist on tracing a woman’s boyfriends to the point of taking DNA swabs (”oh don’t worry it’s not for criminal prosecution of YOU so don’t worry about that 4th amendment”).
Thing => think
[spelling errors are one way God keeps me from getting too proud of myself when I get on a roll]
Patty Murray is only upset it was Hillary peaking in the womb and not Patty herself.
So the advertisement depicted the truth, and the lawmaker got pissed about it?
When you’re over the target...
Isn’t she the weird hippie who somehow won an election?
LOL! senator Patty Murray is screaming about “sexism”.
Bill Clinton, Anthony Weiner and Jon Corzine know how to shut wenches like Murray up. It involves the favorite Democrat sex position - Murray on her knees, and one of the Demmie Ruler Boyz applying the “shut-up stick”.
Spare the faux drama, Patty.
You have to wonder...this ad is so contrived...would it be a big surprise if it was actually produced and paid for by the Dems...as a gambit to make Republicans look anti-women?
Not to me, it wouldn’t. Republicans need to adopt some of these tactics.
Sad to see Uncle Sam being used that way, when it's really the anti-American left who crafted Obamacare.
Don't worry guys, folks on our side will be falling all over themselves to denounce this ad, and once again portray weakness to the Dems and the rest of the country.
Apology in...1...2...3...
Believe it or not, the group also put out an ad in which Uncle Sam prepares to give a dude a proctological exam.
The First Amendment is racist, sexist and homophobic. Any questions?
