Gov. Martin O'Malley's political action committee sounded the call Friday for Congress to renew efforts to pass gun control.
His O'Say Can You See political action committee urged supporters to sign on to O'Malley's petition to Congress. In a message to supporters, the governor wrote that "in the coming months, I'm going to continue to fight for those who stand with us on legislation to reduce gun violence."
O'Malley spokeswoman Lis Smith said that meant "elected like-minded Democrats," a task to which O'Malley has devoted a travel-heavy itinerary this fall.

Want to ‘reduce gun violence’ rather than just blow hot air?
Then figure out a way to take ‘em away from America’s legions of criminals, who don’t care a fig for your ‘legislation.’

In these kinds of discussion, my favorite argument is this:
Why don't we go for Utopia? And why limit ourselves to guns, why not ALL weapons? And why not give the authorities the power to enter any living space, at any time, and search for weapons?
Think of the peaceful, safe world we could create.
Wait a minute, we already have such a world. It's called prison. All weapons are outlawed and they can be searched for anywhere and at any time.
And what goes on there: murder, rape, extortion, assault, and almost every other crime imaginable.
You want me to turn in my guns and let the government protect me? The Government can't control criminals when you have them behind stone walls and have near unlimited authority. Why would any sane person think the Government can do any better job when criminals are loose on the streets?
I'll continue to rely on myself for protection. The Government is totally incompetent!

It’s just about constitutional amendment time.

Gun Crime is down 40% since 1995, and it is due in no small part to keeping felons locked up in jail.
Their "solution" is to ban legal ownership of guns while releasing criminals back onto the streets.
