A Canadian father's five-month-old baby was killed in an accident on a conveyor belt at an airport in Spain Wednesday, an airport official said.
The mother, an American, had arrived in Alicante from London just before midnight with another young child and put the baby on the belt where the oversized luggage arrives, a spokewoman with Spain's airport management company, AENA, told QMI Agency Thursday.
It is not clear how the baby died. The spokeswoman said the infant may have been crushed.
The father, a Canadian, was waiting at the airport to pick his family up. He was not in the secured area at the time of the death.
Spanish police are investigating.
Note to self: Do not put baby on conveyor belt.
Not a good idea.
Greedy lawyers to file lawsuits in 5...4..3...2...
Probably a good to go .... doubt that there were signs posted warning mothers not to put 5 month old babies on oversize luggage conveyer as it was their legal duty to do. Probably should have had police or social services personnel on hand to ensure violators were promptly arrested or disciplined.
What kind of moron puts their baby on the luggage mover?
Should have had a drop down fence to physically prevent people from putting little babies on the conveyor belt.
They’ll find some lying skunk “expert” to prepare an animated “re-construction” to show how it “could have been prevented.”
How in the world could a mother be this stupid!
and the baby paid the price for her stupidity.
I always check to make sure my baby will fit under the seat or in the overhead bin.
The normal first thought is “what moron puts a baby on the conveyor belt”. Well, I’m betting a tired stressed-out mother trying to juggle kids and luggage. That’s one theory.
If it was a accident, then I feel bad for the poor woman who will have to live with this the rest of her life.
God rest the baby.
Don’t bother flaming. I won’t respond to nasty arrogance.
What's John-Boy Hunter-Edwards up to these days?
That’s a rather insensitive comment. Obviously, this baby needed the oversized bin.
Airlines are weird. The last time I flew Southwest Airlines didn’t let me board the plane with a dead raccoon. I told them it was carrion.
I sentence thee to three in the pundery with no punrole!
People are too cavalier about those baby-carriers. What really perturbs me are people who just set them down on the ground, with the baby inside, exposed to anything that might be dropped on them.
Oui oui, but were those signs in French-Canadian?
okay, i’m sorry, the mom is an idiot. the baby was five months old.
Having had a few near disasters myself, I'm more inclined to pity than vituperation.
My own question, why were they in Spain? Neither parent was Spanish.
