Vladimir Putin, the Neo-Soviet Man
townhall.com ^ | September 19, 2013 | Cliff May

Posted on 09/19/2013 2:29:43 PM PDT by Tailgunner Joe

Putin is deeply committed to winning, to beating Obama like a rented mule, to diminishing the United States, exacting a little revenge for all America did to undermine the Soviet empire and for inviting former members of the Soviet bloc to join NATO after the fall of the Berlin Wall. As for the gassing of women and children by Bashar Assad, Russia’s friend and Iran’s loyal servant, I think Putin will leave it to bourgeois humanists to shed the salty tears. ....

There are those who believe that Putin is now acting like a statesman, riding to the rescue – shirtless, no doubt — thanks largely to the “credible threat of force” posed by an ambivalent American president who, Kerry vowed, was prepared to unleash an “unbelievably small” military strike once that was authorized by a Congress that seemed disinclined to do anything of the sort.

Putin is now “giving the president of the United States everything they asked for and more,” Representative Chris Van Hollen said on Fox last Sunday. “He helped deliver exactly what the United States wanted.” I would ask those who buy this thesis: Did you read Putin’s op-ed in the New York Times last week?

Putin begins by lamenting the “insufficient communication between our societies” — despite the fact that his ludicrously propagandistic television station, RT, is on just about every American’s cable system. (Larry King is among the featured personalities. Really, Larry? This is how you want to end your career?)

He then warns that a military strike by the U.S. against Assad would “unleash a new wave of terrorism.” In other words, should Assad’s state terrorism be punished, the response will be more terrorism ordered by Assad, his Iranian sponsors, or Hezbollah, Iran’s Lebanon-based terrorist proxy. Apparently, Putin has no problem with that.

Putin’s a scumbag. That he’s less of a scumbag than Obama is irrelevant.

Putin is having a little fun with the inexperienced, incapable, know-nothing symbol we have in the White House. We shouldn’t expect anything else, since it is the American people who authorized this clown act. But Putin needs to exercise a little caution. We might get a real president the next time, and what goes around comes around.

The biggest critics of Putin seem to be the same folks who have no problem supporting American economic redistribution to Communist China....many of Putin’s critics upset because he is not a Commie...just an old skool Russkie totalitarian

Putin is not a good guy, but his biggest critics seem to like worse

No, Putin is not a Soviet or communist, both because he is smart, and because he is pragmatic, not caught up in a rigid and stupid antiquated philosophy.

What he is, is the leader of Russia, with few illusions about what that means. What he does he does for Russia and the Russian people. He is a nationalist.

Importantly, he is *not* an internationalist. These people have been a nightmare to us, because they are not loyal to the United States. They lust for a one world government, and work for it, even if it is against the interests of the United States. We should never allow them in our government.

But Putin is crystal clear. He is actually *more* trustworthy than Obama, or McCain, or other of our leaders with questionable loyalties. Putin always acts the same.

He is not an American, and does not see things from our perspective, and he in many ways is in contention with us. But it is honorable contention.

It is sad that we can respect him more than our own leaders. This doesn’t mean he is our friend. He isn’t.

“Putin is crystal clear. He is actually *more* trustworthy than Obama”

When the Ex-Soviet KGB Officer President of Russia is holding the Moral High Ground over the Peace Prize-Winning President of The United States, and using it to make that US President his b**ch, you know we have truly jumped down the Rabbit Hole, as a nation.

I guess this is part of what they mean by Manhattan-Washington conservatism. Most of the country -- pretty much everywhere outside of seven states -- doesn't get that channel on cable, so far as I've been able to find out.

Nothing wrong with taking the Putin fan club down a peg. Of course Putin isn't our friend and shouldn't be a role model, but I can't see getting so worked up about it. We shouldn't love him, but there's no point in directing so much hatred at him either.

Worth the read and video watching! Who here can say they’ve ever heard the occupier in the White House say anything remotely like this? Is Putin the real thing? We can all decide that for ourselves but there is no question about where obozo stands.

I can’t argue with the article linked above and certainly the quotes of Solzhenitsyn and de Tocqueville and Ronald Reagan contained therein are preferable to any quote by the community organizer. We all know what he’s doing and has already done to our country.
