Tea Party Activist to Challenge Boehner in Next Primary
Fox News (elections) ^ | September 17, 2011 | Fox News (elections)

Tea Party leaders who have been pushing for a primary opponent against House Speaker John Boehner in 2012 for not keeping a campaign promise to cut more federal spending are getting their wish.

Tea Party activist David Lewis, a 26-year-old married father, announced Friday that he will challenge the Ohio Republican. But Lewis is mounting a protest candidacy on a single issue: Boehner’s support of a federal budget that provided funding to Planned Parenthood.

Lewis plans to unveil graphic anti-abortion ads on his website Monday.

“I’m not delusional. I don’t know if I have a chance at beating the speaker of the House,” Lewis told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “But what I can do is show the Ohio voters that Boehner has a box full of empty rhetoric. He doesn’t really vote for his convictions. He’s an establishment Republican. He doesn’t believe in the Tea Party. He doesn’t really believe in the pro-life issues.”

Lewis doesn’t live in Boehner’s district now; he lives in Rep. Jean Schmidt's district. But he told the newspaper that he would move there if he wins the primary.

Boehner’s office declined to comment to the newspaper on Lewis’ candidacy.

Not as Speaker, just in his district.

Is Bohner even going to run next year?

The Speaker has VM taking calls. Last week there was a staffer taking messages. Ya think, the gutless one doesn’t want to hear from We The People? I think the gutless one is reading his tea leaves for 2014, ya think?.

This guy isn’t even serious about winning.

Simply a one-issue candidate wasting our time.

If you’re going to be Tea-Party, BE TEA-PARTY! FIGHT TO WIN!

Boehner is another fallen Catholic who should be ex-communicated. Congress is full of such evil hypocrites. I hope this young man has a chance and that we still have a country by the next election.

Push the non-opposition to Obamacare and the lack of spine as well.
Be more than a one trick pony.

That is good news. But we would still end up having Cantor as Speaker possibly with Pete Sessions as chief toady.

Boehner should retire and go live with his daughter and Jamaican son-in-law.

That is the what I thought of house ‘conservatives’ symbol votes against Bohner as Speaker January 2, none of them would run for Speaker themselves.
Pretty lame.

I just saw this on Fox news.
I am wondering if come December or January Bohner will announce his retirement at end of 2014.

Maybe we can convince him to quit for some fun in the Jamaican sun.

He has to be checked out thoroughly. Being pro-life or a Tea Party member or Tea Party endorsed doesn't mean he's a real conservative on all issues.

We voters been burned enough by pseudo conservatives and I'm tired of it.

He already has a big, fat pension waiting for him. He could live at Sandals resort permanently. He obviously likes sun-bathing, so this would be a win-win for all concerned.

my recollection is that i supported this man Lewis previously against boehner; he’s not a fly-by challenger. i will do so again. i don’t think the country can stand even an ex-speaker boehner, acting as a backroom spider, continuing to pull on his crony web.

and Lewis’ stated reason for running (consistent with previous runs) is the finest reason to run against any leftist.

Eric Gurr seems like a more serious primary challenger.

David Lewis, a 26-year-old married father mentally retarded fruitcake, has no clue what "conservative" means, and he has no clue what issues coincide with the TEA Party movement.

Hmm. Jean Schmidt doesn’t represent that district anymore. I know, I live there. Brad Wenstrup now represents it.

Does he really expect the voters to take his single-issue candidacy seriously?

Gosh maybe Boehner won’t get 99 percent like last election. Give him some competition at least. A tea partier will be nice and since Boehner is not going to be Speaker after 2014....he said he is stepping down then new blood is a good thing.
